Oedaeap Station hair salon for a layered C-curl perm: Park Seung Chul

I got a layered C-curl perm at Park Seung Chul Hair Studio Dongdaemun-oedae (박승철헤어스투디오 동대문외대점), a hair salon near Oedaeap Station :) Lately my hair has felt heavy overall, with ends that flip out, so styling it every morning was honestly a bit of a chore. Especially when I wore it down, the line just looked unkempt. I wanted natural volume and an easy-care style, so I decided to try a layered C-curl perm! Here's my review of the salon, and spoiler: I was really happy with it :)

Location and how to get to Park Seung Chul Hair Studio Dongdaemun-oedae

The salon is at 120 Imun-ro, Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, Imun I'Park Xi Building A, Unit 210, and it's open daily 10:00-20:00. I came out of Exit 1 at Oedaeap Station (Line 1). The signs near the exit are clear, so even though it was my first time, the route wasn't hard at all!

It rained quite a lot that day, but the salon is close to Oedaeap Station, so it wasn't much of a hassle. When you're looking for a hair salon near the station, being close is the most important thing, right? Haha

I went inside the Imun I'Park Xi building and took the escalator up. The inside of the building is clean too, so getting around was easy even on a rainy day :)

What's the salon like inside?

The salon feels clean and bright from the entrance. I finally arrived, and first impression: thumbs up!

Right inside is the reception area, and the whole place had a classy, calm mood. The staff greeted me kindly, so I started the treatment in a good mood!

The interior was bigger and more comfortable than I expected. There are large windows, so it doesn't feel stuffy and you can relax while getting your hair done. Among Dongdaemun hair salons, I think anyone who likes a clean, tidy atmosphere would be happy here haha

My hair before the treatment

I'd had a layered cut about three months earlier, so the length was left in an awkward in-between state, the line felt heavy and the ends looked unfinished. When I wore it down it wasn't tidy and looked bulky, which wasn't a good look.. haha. I wanted a cleaner change, so this time I decided to go with a C-curl perm!

Did the layered cut alone make a difference?

At Park Seung Chul Hair Studio Dongdaemun-oedae, they started with the layered cut. Even with just the cut, the lines beside my face looked much lighter and the whole silhouette felt neater! I didn't want the layers to be too dramatic, and these connected naturally, so I already liked it at this stage haha

In the middle of the treatment, a staff member brought me an iced tea! It was a rainy, slightly muggy day, so sipping a cold drink made me feel really well looked after :) Little services like this quietly boost my satisfaction.

How was the C-curl perm process?

After the layered cut, the C-curl perm began in earnest. They applied the solution carefully so the curl would set naturally. They kept asking whether anything felt uncomfortable and checked for heat or pulling, so I could relax through the whole thing.

After the perm, they shampooed my hair. It was comfortable, and they finished carefully so my hair wouldn't end up too dry after the treatment. I always worry about damage after a perm, so I was glad it finished softer than I expected!

What changed after the layered C-curl perm

This is the look after blow-drying. I loved it the second I saw the mirror haha. The heavy feeling is gone, and there's now a layered line that flows naturally along the sides of my face, which gives a much softer impression!

I don't often use a curling iron, so I wanted something easy to style, and with this layered C-curl perm the line sets to a decent degree just by drying my hair. I think it'll cut down my morning prep time.
