Gapyeong dakgalbi restaurant with udon sari, lunch with a kid: Jayeon

On a family outing to Gapyeong, we stopped somewhere for a good lunch 😊

It's 'Jayeon Dakgalbi (자연닭갈비),' near the Nami Island ferry pier. This time we visited as three — two adults and one child.

If you're looking for somewhere to eat comfortably with kids near Nami Island, this might be worth keeping in mind 💛 What I liked most was the spacious parking and the open feel with the Bukhan River in view. And I noticed it's a dog-friendly restaurant where you can bring your pet along 🐶🐾

We didn't bring our dog this time, but for people who find it hard to leave their pet alone while eating out while traveling, a place like this would be a real relief 😊 If you're planning a trip to Gapyeong or Nami Island with your dog, this is good to know as a meal spot.

Where Jayeon Dakgalbi is and when it opens

Jayeon Dakgalbi is at 1007-10 Bukhangangbyeon-ro, 1-2F, Gapyeong-eup, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do. There's parking in front of the store, and dogs, takeout, reservations, and groups are all fine. There's wifi and separate men's and women's restrooms.

Hours vary a bit by day.

They may close early if ingredients run out, so it's worth checking before you visit 😊

Parking at Jayeon Dakgalbi was one less worry

When you go out to Gapyeong, parking is one of the first things on your mind.

But Jayeon Dakgalbi has a parking lot right in front, so it was easy to visit by car. Especially when moving around as a family — with luggage and a kid — we prefer places where parking isn't a hassle, and this place made that part easy 👍

It's also close to the Nami Island ferry pier, so it seemed like a good spot to plan a meal around before or after a Nami Island trip.

Once inside, the space was bigger than I expected, with plenty of seating.

It felt comfortable for families to visit, and there were also seats for groups, so it looked fine for multiple people to eat together too 😊

My eyes especially went to the window seats. You could see the Bukhan River outside along with the scenery around the Nami Island pier, so it felt more like being on a trip than just having a meal 🌿⛴️

On a nice day, sitting by the window and enjoying the view while eating would be really lovely. The three of us settled in and started our meal at ease 💕

What our family of three ordered, and the prices

This time we kept it simple!

• Hot-plate dakgalbi x2
• Cheese sari (extra noodle/topping add-on)
• Udon sari
• Cider 🥤

Hot-plate dakgalbi is ₩16,000 per serving. With two adults and one child, we ordered two servings and added cheese and udon sari, which was plenty for the three of us.

The dakgalbi came out on a hot plate piled generously with cabbage and vegetables — just looking at it made my mouth water 🤤 Watching dakgalbi sizzle away on the plate is part of the fun. As the smell of the sauce drifted up, our kid said she wanted to eat right away, haha.

We ordered the sauced hot-plate dakgalbi. Watching the chicken and vegetables mingle with the sauce and slowly cook to perfection looked really appetizing.

Dakgalbi is great on its own, but it also works well wrapped in lettuce like a ssam (wrap) 🥬

The sauce soaked well into the chicken, and it was the kind of flavor that made you crave rice too. Since we had our kid with us, she skipped the spicier bits, while the adults could really enjoy the rich flavor of the sauce 😊

Adding the cheese sari was the right call

And one thing we couldn't skip this meal was the cheese sari 🧀💕

Adding cheese to dakgalbi makes it feel so much smoother, so we added it without a second thought. Watching the cheese melt over the dakgalbi with that savory aroma rising up — it was really delicious.

Eating the stretchy melted cheese together with the dakgalbi mellowed out the spiciness a bit and added richness, which both kid and adults enjoyed 😍 If you love cheese, adding cheese sari to your dakgalbi is definitely worth trying.

Udon sari made the hot plate even more filling

When eating dakgalbi, we always end up adding at least one sari (extra noodle add-on). This time we went with udon sari 🍜 The dakgalbi sauce soaked right into the chewy udon noodles, giving it a different kind of flavor.

Eat some chicken, then udon, then top it with cheese again… before I knew it my chopsticks just kept moving 😂 Glad we added the sari.

Since we came with our child, we also ordered cider (Korean-style lemon-lime soda) to drink 🥤

A saucy dish like dakgalbi actually pairs surprisingly well with a cold, fizzy soda. Maybe because it was a Gapyeong trip day, but the meal felt more fun than usual 😊

Since Jayeon Dakgalbi is close to the Nami Island ferry pier, it seemed like a good spot for a meal either before or after visiting Nami Island.

It's great for a family outing like ours with a kid, or for stopping by during a Gapyeong drive with friends. With the Bukhan River view thrown in, it felt less like just grabbing a meal and more like properly enjoying a meal during the trip 🌿

It would be a shame to skip dakgalbi when in Gapyeong, and if you're looking for hot-plate dakgalbi near Nami Island, this is a place worth stopping by.

Our verdict on Jayeon Dakgalbi as a family of three

This time, two adults and one child visited and ordered two servings of hot-plate dakgalbi plus cheese sari, udon sari, and cider.

After eating that much, it felt like we'd had a solid, filling family meal 😊 Since the dakgalbi is stir-fried right on the hot plate, it stayed warm the whole time, and adding cheese and udon sari made it even more filling.

Above all, the proximity to Nami Island, the ample parking, the atmosphere with the Bukhan River view, and being dog-friendly — there was a lot for travelers to remember 🐶💛 If you're planning a family trip to Gapyeong or Nami Island, deciding on a meal spot ahead of time makes the trip so much easier.
