Jayeon Dakgalbi sits right in front of the Nami Island pier. Since I was visiting Nami Island with Rungji, I searched for dog-friendly dakgalbi restaurants and found this place!
How big is the parking lot at Jayeon Dakgalbi?
The parking lot at Jayeon Dakgalbi is huge! You can park here and go visit Nami Island — but you do need to come back and eat at the restaurant, haha.
I'd been worried about parking since the lots near the pier are always packed, but Jayeon Dakgalbi's private lot was spacious and easy. There are parking perks when you eat there too, so it's perfect to park and eat before heading to Nami Island, or stop by for a meal after you're done sightseeing!
Inside Jayeon Dakgalbi: table spacing that fits a dog stroller
I visited early in the evening and the place was pleasantly uncluttered. Lots of tables too, so it'd be good for group visits as well. Seating can be awkward when dining out with a dog, but Jayeon Dakgalbi's interior is spacious with generous table spacing, so you can bring a dog stroller and still eat comfortably. The owner and staff also doted on Rungji, so we could eat without feeling self-conscious, haha.
What two people ordered at Jayeon Dakgalbi, and what it cost
The two of us ordered hot-plate dakgalbi for two (₩32,000), one serving of makguksu (₩10,000), and potato pancake (₩15,000)!
Jayeon Dakgalbi's basic side dishes. Lettuce, seasoned bean sprouts, chili peppers + garlic, ssamjang (dipping sauce), pickled radish, and napa cabbage kimchi come out, and you can help yourself to more at the self-serve corner. The pickled radish especially was so tasty and paired perfectly with the dakgalbi, haha.
Hot-plate dakgalbi for two with potato pancake and makguksu
The hot-plate dakgalbi for two arrived. So drool-worthy... Rungji just stared at it, ha. If your dog comes along, a carrier or dog stroller is required! Sorry, Rungji, only I get to eat the good stuff...
Once the dakgalbi arrives, the owner personally stir-fries it all for you. The smell was insane... I personally prefer hot-plate dakgalbi over charcoal-grilled, so I was full of anticipation. The hot-plate dakgalbi's seasoning wasn't overly spicy or sweet — not too intense, so it's the kind of flavor you keep reaching for!
And the potato pancake I ordered......... I really love potato pancake, and this place's version is top-tier, so definitely order it... The crispy-outside, soft-inside texture was insane. I finished the whole plate.
The hot-plate dakgalbi, stir-fried to perfection, haha. Wow, the visuals are insane. The cheese dakgalbi looked delicious too.
The hot-plate dakgalbi was generously loaded with rice cake, sweet potato, and cabbage.
The edges of the potato pancake are the tastiest part...... so crispy. Dipped it deep in the seasoning sauce, haha. The dakgalbi and potato pancake combo is insane.
Wrapping dakgalbi, garlic, chili, and radish in fresh lettuce. Ah, why does wrapping it in lettuce taste so good...
I'm a garlic lover so I kept wrapping bites with it, haha. No gamey smell to the chicken at all, and it was plump with a great texture...
Order the makguksu and you won't have room for the fried rice
And this is the makguksu! Can't resist the dakgalbi-and-makguksu combo, haha. Sprinkle on savory roasted seaweed flakes plus mustard and vinegar to taste.
The portions were so generous I couldn't scrape the bowl clean, sigh. By the time I finished the makguksu I was so full I couldn't eat the fried rice — I still regret it........ Such a satisfying meal though.
A good dog-friendly meal stop on a Gapyeong and Chuncheon trip
The staff were genuinely kind and every dish was delicious at Jayeon Dakgalbi. It's located right in front of Nami Island, so the location is great, and you can dine comfortably with your dog — highly recommended for anyone planning a trip to Gapyeong or Chuncheon!
