On baseball day I met up with my fellow "yachinja" (baseball-crazy friends) and we went for BBQ at Hwaseol Seolleung Direct Branch (화설 선릉직영점)!!!!! It's too hot to eat much at the stadium these days, so we had to stuff ourselves first ^.^ Off to Hwaseol, famous as a Seolleung Station BBQ spot!

There's a seating area outside Hwaseol Seolleung Direct Branch. I'm not sure if it's where you wait outside or where you rest after eating.

What are Hwaseol Seolleung's opening hours?

Hwaseol Seolleung Direct Branch is open daily 11:30-23:00, with a break time from 15:00 to 17:00. Last order is at 22:00.

Hwaseol Seolleung atmosphere and seating: good for a company dinner?

Hwaseol has camping-style seats, private rooms and a spacious main hall, so it's a solid pick for a Seolleung get-together or company dinner. Like the chairs we saw outside, there are camping-vibe seats inside too, and the mood is great T_T

So cool lol, it's not a real fire but you can still stare into it! Little details like this really make the atmosphere. There are also private rooms, so it's a fine Seolleung spot for gatherings and group dinners.

The hall is roomy and not stuffy, which I liked. And it feels kind of upscale ^.^ We sat in the hall.

Hwaseol side dishes and table setup

We had made a reservation, so the side dishes were already laid out, and it all looked neat and tidy.

There were sides that go well with the meat, plus sarada (Korean-style salad), marinated raw crab (yangnyeom gejang) and a green salad, so plenty to nibble on.

Wet wipes, tissues, spoons and chopsticks and paper cups sit beside the table, and there are even personal plates in the bottom of the drawer, so you don't have to ask or go fetch anything. So convenient!

The Hwaseol menu is made up of pork, beef, set menus and a variety of sides.

There's a wide choice of drinks and corkage is free! If you have good wine or sake, feel free to bring it ><

Hwaseol Handon Mixed Set with doenjang stew included

After we ordered, staff switched the grill to a pork plate, and the Hwaseol mixed platter came out together with one serving of pork belly. Gorgeous-looking meat!

You can really feel the freshness in the color of the meat T_T I was hyped before it even hit the grill!!

They told us the doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) is included in the set. Total bargain, right???? hahaha We'd already ordered the doenjang sulbap though..^.^ Guess we'll just eat more^.^!!!!!!!

How were the doenjang sulbap and truffle jjapaghetti?

Hwaseol's premium doenjang sulbap is thick, rich and salty, and so good. It has the same base as the stew, but sulbap has its own charm T_T The rice comes already mixed in, so you get that thick, rich texture,,!

The truffle jjapaghetti arrives! A combo that can't be bad. My friend split the fried egg for us, haha, kind of clumsily ^.^ hahahahaha You're usually so sharp, what happened?? hahaha

Staff-grilled pork neck, pork belly and galmaegisal (pork skirt)

The staff grill all the meat at Hwaseol Seolleung. They started with the pork neck. It was thick, so they cut it into small pieces, and I wondered if it would be dry!!! But the juices burst out, it was tender and so good.

Nutty with zero gamey smell. My friend was raving about how good it was, and the person grilling put extra meat on her plate, haha. Guess in life, you have to work hard to get something dropped in your lap ^.^

Next up, super thick pork belly. Before grilling the pork belly, the staff wipe down the grill plate once.

We grilled galmaegisal (pork skirt) alongside. I've been falling for galmaegisal again lately lol. And the pork belly, what can I even say hahaha. Nutty and delicious, and the galmaegisal was tender and chewy. Since they grill everything it's easy to eat, and the smoky char flavor made it even better T_T

Is the Hwaseol Handon Mixed Set enough for 4 people?

Four of us ate the Hwaseol Hanwoo Mixed Set plus galbi samgyeopsal and sides, and we were nicely stuffed ^.^ With a set you don't have to agonize over what to order and you get a variety, which is great!! For 3-4 people I recommend the set ><

Juicy meat ^.^♡ Eaten with all the different side dishes, and it goes so well with the sides too, such a happy meal!

Hwaseol Seolleung restroom and overall verdict

The restroom is just a few steps away if you follow the signs outside!! The place itself has a great atmosphere and is spacious, so I think it'd be perfect for company dinners, gatherings or dates too!!! Corkage is free, so next time I'm going for the beef!!!!!
