Sangam gimbap restaurant lunch: Samhyeongje Gimbap

Samhyeongje Gimbap, Sangam branch (삼형제김밥 상암점) is somewhere I have visited several times for lunch. Being able to choose displayed gimbap (seaweed rice rolls) and pay right away was convenient during a busy lunch hour, and I returned because the rolls were generously filled.

Where is the Sangam branch, and when is it open?

The restaurant is in Unit 1029 on B1 of Nuritkum Square, 396 World Cup buk-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul. The underground area is fairly confusing, but the restaurant was large enough to stand out as I passed by.

The original post lists weekday hours as 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with last orders at 7:00 PM. On Saturdays, it is open from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with last orders at 2:00 PM, and it is regularly closed on Sundays.

Is it easy to order during a busy lunch hour?

Nearly every type of gimbap was packaged and displayed in advance. I could pick the rolls I wanted, pay, and put them in a bag, so there was no need to wait for gimbap to be freshly rolled.

There was a wide variety of gimbap, and rolls containing fried tofu seemed to be a standard option.

I paid at a kiosk. Since I could collect the gimbap and, as needed, ramyeon, guk (soup), chopsticks, and bags myself, I could finish ordering without speaking separately to a staff member. The staff were kind, too.

The staff kept rolling gimbap. On my visits so far, the gimbap I wanted had never been sold out.

Are group orders or breakfast delivery available?

They also accepted group orders and offered breakfast delivery. I felt these were useful services for nearby office workers, and considering the ingredients in the gimbap, the price did not feel burdensome.

How much are gimbap and ramyeon for four people?

This time, I tried ordering after hearing that new menu items had come out.

The four of us ordered four gimbap rolls and four ramyeon, and the total was about ₩30,000.

Which gimbap did I like most?

We chose spicy fish cake, crab stick, seasoned dried squid, and wasabi tuna gimbap. I had tried the wasabi tuna and spicy fish cake before, while the crab stick and seasoned dried squid were new to me this time.

The gimbap, including the wasabi tuna, was generally filled with plenty of ingredients. Paired with ramyeon, it was quite a large amount for me.

The crab stick gimbap, which I tried for the first time, was good to alternate with the spicy fish cake. The combination of spiciness and mayonnaise worked well.

Personally, my favorite is the spicy fish cake. To my taste, it was cleanly spicy rather than intensely hot, and I could eat it without feeling greasy.

How filling are gimbap and ramyeon together?

That day, four adult women shared four gimbap rolls and four ramyeon. None of us usually eats a small amount, yet we were full enough to leave some gimbap. For me, one roll of gimbap alone could make a substantial meal.

There was also doenjang-guk (soybean paste soup) sauce to collect yourself. I was satisfied with both the gimbap portions and the self-service setup, and found it convenient when I needed to arrange lunch quickly.
