Furg Pizza Inha University Station branch is a dine-in pizzeria in Yonghyeon-dong, Michuhol-gu, Incheon, near Inhadae Station Exit 1. Over lunch with friends, the writer ordered an L half-and-half pizza of Basil Mascarpone Shrimp and Hurricane Double Pepperoni with cola, and it came out freshly baked and generously topped. Furg Pizza Inha University Station branch is a compact shop that seats about 10, making it a good pick for a small group get-together.

Jungdong Korean restaurant by Lotte, soy crab with Mom: Gim Myeongju

Gim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang Sinjungdong Branch is a Korean set-meal (hanjeongsik) restaurant near Lotte Department Store in Jungdong, Bucheon. The writer went with Mom, ordered one set meal per person, added soy-marinated raw crab (ganjang gejang) as the extra main, and enjoyed the self-bar side dishes, omija and plum tea, and a 1,000-won Americano at the basement café. Gim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang Sinjungdong Branch is a neat, well-kept Bucheon Korean restaurant that is great for taking parents.

Seoul Korean BBQ near Nodeul Island before the light festival: Jeokto

Jeokto Balhyo Gui Yongsan Branch (적토발효구이 용산점) is a fermented, aged-meat Korean BBQ restaurant near Sinyongsan Station in Yongsan, Seoul, close to Nodeul Island. Two of us had the signature jeot pork belly and tojang (soybean paste) stew for dinner before the Nodeul Island light festival; the meat is grilled in the kitchen, so no smell clung to our clothes, and the smoky pork and hearty stew were satisfying. Verdict: Jeokto Balhyo Gui is a good place to fill up before the festival or a Han River walk.

Yeouido Park gyukatsu restaurant, birthday dinner with beer: Hurato

Hurato Sikdang Yeouido (후라토식당 여의도직영점) is a Japanese restaurant specializing in gyukatsu (breaded beef cutlet) and steki (Japanese-style steak) on the 3rd floor of Yeouido Finance Tower in Yeouido, Seoul. For a close older friend's birthday dinner, the writer waited briefly through Catchtable, then ordered gyukatsu and the steki set meal as a set, swapped the set drinks for beer and added Isigny butter to grill with the beef. Hurato Sikdang Yeouido stays busy even at dinner, but it is a good pick for a birthday or other celebration dinner paired with a walk in Yeouido Park.

Hongdae hair salon for a first hippie perm: U Art Hair Hongdae

U Art Hair Hongdae is a hair salon on the 3rd floor of a building in Mapo, Seoul, about a 5-minute walk from Exit 9 of Hongik Univ. Station. After booking through Naver, the writer took the designer's advice to get a cut first, then had a first-ever hippie perm and was very happy with the bouncy curls from the roots. With a student discount event for nearby university students, U Art Hair Hongdae is worth recommending to anyone who wants a noticeable perm near Hongdae.

Burger pop-up in Yeouido: office lunch before 11:20 at Lil' Burger

Lil' Burger The Hyundai Seoul is a handmade burger pop-up on B1 of The Hyundai Seoul department store in Yeouido, Seoul. The writer and a coworker arrived a little after 11:00 on a weekday, claimed a shared table first, then split an El Taco burger set with sweet potato fries and a jalapeño mayo burger set with french fries. At lunchtime, arriving at Lil' Burger The Hyundai Seoul before 11:20 is the key, and the sweet-and-salty combos made it a definite place to return to.

Korean restaurant near City Hall Station after two art museums: SABAL

SABAL is a Korean restaurant inside Gyeonghuigung Achim (경희궁의아침) Complex 3 in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, serving neat, home-style Korean food near Gyeongbokgung, Seochon and City Hall Station. After exhibitions at Deoksugung Museum of Art and the Seoul Museum of Art, the blogger and her companion stopped by late and sat on the terrace for pumpkin porridge, tangtang octopus with deodeok gochujang rice and chogye guksu (chilled chicken noodles); the cinnamon-scented porridge and the cool noodle broth stood out. SABAL is a Korean restaurant worth recommending for a date after a museum visit or a meal with parents.

Dangsan Station Chinese pub: Sichuan tangsuyuk & ₩4,900 beer, Yongyong

Yongyong Seonsaeng Dangsan Station branch is a Hong Kong-style Chinese pub near Exit 11 of Dangsan Station in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, right next to Yeokjeon Halmeoni Beer. After volcano mala hotpot on the first visit, this revisit paired Sichuan tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) and chili-loaded yurimgi (fried chicken) with ₩4,900 beer, and both dishes were crispy and sweet-spicy enough to keep you eating. With a spacious room, a wide menu and cheap beer, Yongyong Seonsaeng Dangsan Station branch is a group meetup spot worth coming back to.

Dangsan Korean BBQ meetup with a bokbunja welcome drink: Gochang Galbi

On a last-minute after-work meetup, the writer and friends each got a glass of bokbunja (Korean black raspberry wine) as a welcome drink and shared the group set: 4 servings of bokbunja galbi, gochujang stew, 2 barley bibimbap and steamed egg. With its cool, spacious dining room and friendly service, Gochang Galbi is worth a return visit for group dinners near Dangsan Station.

Jonggak izakaya for a BYO whiskey date with grilled shrimp: Suksseong

Suksseong Susan Jongno Main Branch is an aged-sashimi izakaya on the 3rd floor of a building on Samil-daero 19-gil near Jonggak Station in Seoul, where every seat is a private booth or room. The writer brought whiskey for an evening date, got ice and proper glasses through the free corkage service, and ordered a small aged sashimi platter, seasonal grilled shrimp and a red snow crab tomalley cream croquette. Suksseong Susan is on the pricier side, but for a quiet room date and drinks it was worth every won.

Euljiro pub with cool indoor seats and homemade gambas: Another Level

Another Level (어나더레벨) is a rooftop gastropub on the 4th floor of a building near Euljiro 3-ga Station in Jung-gu, Seoul. Returning for its spicy ttukbaegi pasta (pasta served in an earthenware pot), the writer sat in Another Level's air-conditioned indoor seating on a hot day and enjoyed homemade gambas with soft dinner rolls, beer and highballs. With great atmosphere both indoors and on the rooftop and tasty food, Another Level is a bar in Euljiro's trendy 'Hipjiro' scene worth revisiting.

Fish stew revisit near Pungsan Station, leftovers to go: Hantangang

Hantangang Maeuntang Ilsan Main Branch is a spicy crab and catfish stew (maeuntang) restaurant on Seongseok-ro near Pungsan Station in Ilsandong-gu, Goyang. Craving the flavor from an earlier visit, the writer returned for the crab catfish maeuntang set, a half plate of fried loach and eojuk (fish rice porridge), then packed the leftover stew and porridge at the self-takeout corner to reheat at home. Hantangang Maeuntang's broth tasted just as good the second time, making it an Ilsan stamina-food spot worth coming back to.
