A huge Nowon sushi buffet for weekday dinner

When I’m determined to absolutely inhale food like crazy, this is where I run without a second thought: I went to Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch (쿠우쿠우 노원점) for weekday dinner 🍀

I’ve been to plenty of big restaurants, but this one is genuinely in my top ten for spaciousness—so wide open. Almost a football field. There are tons of tables too, but it’s so large that they’re really spread out. You absolutely cannot hear what the people at the next table are saying lol.

It looked perfect for coming for a group meal too. Maybe because the scale is so huge, even when it was packed, the traffic flow never got tangled—a great Nowon spot for family gatherings.

Touring the food lineup with a plate in hand

Time to grab a plate and head out. So many dishes they made my eyes roll back.

As you’d expect from a famous Nowon sushi buffet, its signature sushi and rolls were all laid out.

From salty, spicy cockle bibimbap (mixed rice) to shrimp, steamed oysters, and steamed crab, it was a full-on seafood party. There were meat dishes such as pork ribs for the meat lovers, plus the seriously showstopping encroûte soup, so just looking around took ages.

And that wasn’t all—there were loads of Chinese-style dishes too, including guobaorou (sweet-and-sour crispy pork), chili shrimp, and dongpo pork. It felt like they put every good Nowon restaurant together in one place!

I gave the salads a quick look too ^ // ^) You know buffets are all about taking a little stroll around them, right? Just browsing the lineup already made Kuu Kuu feel worth it!

Add draft beer and you can drink unlimitedly, so beer lovers, take note! I even saw people having soju. Corkage is possible, so ask the counter before using it 〰️

Three plates of steamed oysters and my favorite picks

Since I knew I couldn’t possibly eat everything, I resisted the countless temptations and piled my plate high with only the things that hit my personal sweet spot lol.

Plate piled with favorite dishes

The steamed oysters were sooo good. I had three plates, and I brought steamed oysters back on every single one. They’re tucked away at the end, so it felt like I was the only one taking them, but if you visit Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch, please. Please. Have the steamed oysters. They’re seriously delicious ㅠ

Aged-kimchi yukhoe rolls with sesame oil? So good. Bring back heaps of tiny portions of all kinds of things 🤤💕 By the way, when are they inventing the medicine that lets you eat like Tzuyang? Peeling shrimp for my younger sibling—the wholesome side effect of Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch, where sibling affection grows ^ ^ 👍

The steamed crab was good too, and the guobaorou was pretty decent! If you go to Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch, steamed oysters are mandatory, got it.... This is not something that should be left cooling off in a corner. It’s good enough to sit right beside the sushi ~~!!

Waffles and Dippin’ Dots too

Anyway, after going wild on the dishes that suited my taste, I slathered a crisp, freshly baked waffle with apple jam and lots of cream. The staff member was seriously good at baking waffles! So crunchy.

Dippin’ Dots, the star of Kuu Kuu, plus all the dessert you can scoop up—a great Nowon spot for family gatherings. My mouth seriously never got a break until the very end.

I filled my stomach without even a moment to put down my chopsticks, then walked for two hours because I was so full ^ // ^) Certified great spot for a Nowon family gathering!
