What is Baegyeonhonghwa in Euljiro 3-ga?

Baegyeonhonghwa (백연홍화) is a newly opened Chinese-style pub on the 2nd floor at 15 Chungmuro 5-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul, near Euljiro 3-ga Station. It is open Tuesday to Sunday from 5pm to 2am and closed every Monday. There is no parking, but paid corkage is available.

It's close to Euljiro 3-ga Station, so it's just right for when you've been wandering around the neighborhood and want dinner. That kind of place.

Baegyeonhonghwa's Hong Kong retro interior and vibe

Go up to the 2nd floor and you find a really clean, spacious, brand-new place ,, ✨ It felt like stepping into a Hong Kong movie. If you like Euljiro's retro vintage hipness, definitely go. The vibe is killer..

Even every single window is styled true to the concept, and all I could think was how amazing the taste is.

The decor in every corner grabs your eye, so it was fun just looking around the place.

Does Baegyeonhonghwa have a private room for groups?

Baegyeonhonghwa has a group-room-style space separate from the main hall, half a floor down behind the kitchen. It's good for private gatherings like reunions or company dinners.

The kitchen was clean, so no hygiene worries, and there was space behind it, so I went in and wow.. another area styled like a group room opened up! It's a very big place. The hall was already fairly large, and half a floor down there's yet another space like this,, It's separated from the hall, so it seemed perfect for people who want a private reunion. It's good for company dinners too, and when there's no group, it's a nice spot for friends to eat and chat - !

It's decorated all in black, which was totally my taste ,, and the objects at the back stole my attention too ✨

The restrooms are here too, and they're separated by gender, which was convenient and nice 👍

I sat at a window seat in the hall, and with the breezy early-summer weather it was a lethal dose of romance, I was so, so happy.

The tableware at each table was neatly arranged, and wherever I looked from my seat the concept was clear, so I kept looking around without realizing it, hehe. Let me show you the menu here - !

What we ordered at Baegyeonhonghwa: skewer mala hotpot and lamb

The skewer mala hotpot at Baegyeonhonghwa comes with chicken, broccoli, fish cake, tofu-skin mushroom rolls, shrimp, tteok (rice cake sticks), wood ear mushrooms, bok choy, quail eggs, and corn sausage. Basically all the standard ingredients are in there, and I added lamb on top!

The lamb came in big slices, so I thought they were really generous with it.

Do you have to mix your own hotpot sauce?

Baegyeonhonghwa mixes the sauce and brings it to you. I loved this too, haha. See, when I eat mala tang or hotpot I go without sauce, so I don't really know the tasty combinations.. But when an owner who really knows flavor makes it for you, it's such peace of mind ,, 👍

Once it's all set up like this, you boil it and eat.

I could tell from the lineup that it was a solid set, but seeing the actual dishes come out, it really was packed, haha. The white and red broths get the same combination, so you can pick by taste and try a bit of everything >.<

I even got a Bingхong tea (iced tea) from the review event, and it was cold and sweet, a perfect match with hotpot ✨

How do Baegyeonhonghwa's white and red broths taste?

The white broth has a deep, soft flavor like chicken stock, and one sip really settles your stomach. The red broth is a mala tang with a strong numbing-spice aroma, so what's there to say, it's the scary familiar taste you're imagining 👍 I'm team red broth, so I kept eating the red, but the white broth here is so light and delicious that I kept reaching for it instead.

I mixed the sauce they made,

and dipped the skewers one by one, and it was really so good - !!! The sauce was already amazing ,, and the things on the skewers were no pushovers either, so I think I ate a really delicious combination.

Is Baegyeonhonghwa better for a first round or a late-night second?

Baegyeonhonghwa has a varied menu, so it's good for a first round, and since it's open until 2am it's also a good Euljiro bar for a second round to settle your stomach. I think it's going to get really popular. Even though it just opened, lots of people are already lining up at opening time ,, !! If you visit Euljiro, I recommend the hotpot spot Baegyeonhonghwa ❤
