Mangwon date spot for bone kalguksu and medium bossam: Pyeongidambaek

If you're looking for a good bossam (boiled pork wraps) spot near Hapjeong, I think I'll be back here. The bossam is so tender, and the bone kalguksu broth is genuinely, deeply delicious. We even added a bibim kalguksu on top of that — highly recommend haha. I'd actually been to Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch solo before, but going as a couple was even better!

1. Where is this Mangwon bossam restaurant?

While hunting for a good bossam place near Hapjeong, I went to Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch with my boyfriend!

Actually, I'd come here alone once before, you know? Even then it was comfortable for solo dining and the kalguksu was tasty, so I had really good memories of it haha.

The interior of Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch is quite spacious, with several small two-person tables set up. So it's a comfortable vibe for eating kalguksu solo near Hapjeong! It's fine alone, and great as a couple too since you can order bossam as well.

2. Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu menu and prices

Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch has quite a few kinds of kalguksu. This time we ordered a medium bossam first, then the bone kalguksu. It was so good we ended up adding bibim kalguksu too~

3. What two people ate at Pyeongidambaek

They set the table with diced radish kimchi and cabbage kimchi as the basics.

A dipping sauce for the bone kalguksu meat came out too~

If you want to try both bossam and kalguksu in Hapjeong, I'd recommend the combo we ordered. Get bossam with bone kalguksu haha.

Medium bossam: boiled pork with the grain still intact

The reason I want to recommend this as a Hapjeong bossam spot is the meat is genuinely so tender!!! Just look at the visual — the lean meat to fat ratio looks just right, and doesn't the grain of the meat still look intact?

One bite in, the lean part was moist and tender while the fat was chewy — the texture was genuinely great haha. I really had the bossam of my life in Hapjeong~~

And when you order bossam, napa cabbage comes with it too!

Put bossam on the cabbage leaf, add cheongyang chili, garlic, and ssamjang (wrap sauce), and — need I say more?

Bone kalguksu with two bone chunks, one for each person

If you're doing bossam and kalguksu in Hapjeong, you must try the bone kalguksu! Since the restaurant's very name is Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch, I had high expectations for how this bone kalguksu would be.

Once I actually tried it, I understood why it's the signature dish. There are generously two large bone chunks in it!!

If two people order one bowl, it works out perfectly to split one bone chunk each haha.

But meat aside, the broth was genuinely amazing..!!! Spicy yet clean, with the deep flavor from the meat properly soaked into the broth~ And the kalguksu noodles were bouncy and chewy in a way that paired really well with the broth haha.

So while eating, we ended up ordering bibim kalguksu too!!! Because the noodles were just too delicious haha. The visual was pretty from the moment it arrived too?!

We mixed the sauce in well and ate~ The kalguksu noodles themselves are chewy and springy, so they're great mixed too haha.

And the bibim kalguksu also comes with warm broth on the side, which was great to eat alongside. One bite of spicy mixed noodles, one sip of hot broth! Highly recommend.

4. Is Pyeongidambaek worth it for a date in Mangwon?

If you're looking for a good bossam spot in Hapjeong, I want to recommend Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch! I was satisfied going solo, but going as a couple and eating bossam together was even better?! I'm planning to come back again for bossam and kalguksu haha.

Among Hapjeong bossam spots, if you don't want to stop at just bossam and want kalguksu too, I recommend Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch!

The bibim kalguksu is really good too haha. Tender bossam, then spicy bone kalguksu, then finishing with bibim kalguksu — I recommend this whole combo!
