Went out to Mangwon-dong and grabbed dinner while I was at it! Meat... bossam... boiled pork... Meat is love, always.

Went to the main branch of Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu!

How to reach Pyeongidambaek: a 10-minute walk from Mangwon Station

Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch sits between Mangwon Station and Hapjeong Station. Did a little Mangwon Station tour first, then walked about 10 minutes to get here! Best route ever haha.

Got there a bit earlier than dinnertime, quick as anything! The menu boards were huge and posted all over the walls so you could check everything right away. No need to agonize, just pick pick!

The side dishes were great too... Kimchi and diced radish kimchi!!

Medium bossam at ₩42,000, with plenty of ₩10,000-range dishes

The medium bossam platter has arrived-! We ordered the medium bossam (boiled pork) at Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch for ₩42,000. Looks so soft and tender at first glance... Looks like it'll melt right in your mouth- Seems simple, but? I think it's a really solid, worthwhile order :) SO SIMPLE! is BEST!

Looking at it, you can feel ₩10,000-worth of happiness too! I'll definitely try the bone kalguksu next time ^^ There are lots of ₩10,000-range menus like kalguksu, bone soup with rice, bibim noodles, etc... So you don't have to order bossam, haha.

What the boiled pork tastes like wrapped with kimchi

Time to wrap it up!!!!!!!! Bossam! Boiled pork! Usually when I eat boiled pork or bossam I just grab the meat by itself-.. But lately I've started mixing it with kimchi and other side dishes Good synergy, and seems to help with digestion too! The real flavor..!! The kimchi is genuinely delicious Eat it together with the meat, haha. The boiled pork bossam was so tender... It basically fell apart between my chopsticks(?) hahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahaha

Before I knew it, eating away happily, the restaurant had filled up with customers... Did they all come after hearing about the place? As dinnertime approached, the front tables were completely full! There were tables further inside too, so it felt kind of cozy(?)

The kalguksu most tables ordered: noodle thickness and texture

The noodles here are special, and pretty much every customer who came in ordered the noodle soup?! The thickness and chewy texture were seriously amazing... No chemical(?) additives — they age flour, water, and salt together, for a texture and broth harmony that gives just the right size and bite, apparently!

The depth of the broth, noodles and soup becoming one...? Eat it with green onion, chili, and shredded egg garnish and a whole feast of flavor begins!!

Pyeongidambaek is apparently a four-character idiom meaning a mind free of greed. Using pork neck bones for the bone kalguksu, apparently that's the franchise brand name! First time I learned that A calm mind, without desire.. Clean? Perfect name for the restaurant! Whoever came up with it.. haha, kudos!

Add anchovy noodle soup for ₩5,000, or order the ₩15,000 half-plate

※ If you order bossam, you can add anchovy noodle soup for ₩5,000!!! Eat cheap and hearty ^^ The mild anchovy broth flavor was perfect as a hangover cure.. (not telling you I drank yesterday) (don't get me wrong and think I don't drink haha)

There were also side dishes and drinking snacks available too With alcohol.. it'd probably be amazing!! If the price feels like a lot, or you're a small group, the half-plate bossam for ₩15,000 works too! They also sell muchim (seasoned salads) and jeon (pan-fried dishes) Skate muchim?! whoa

Walked all the way to Mangwon Market to look around- It was raining that day so it was juggling an umbrella.. and walking.. Such a.. haha fun time! Eat a hearty meal and then get your walking exercise in! Good for digestion too- light and enjoyable There are so many little shops around Mangwon-dong- Did a bit of sneaky shopping too.. so many cute little shops there- No need to check a map, they're just everywhere as you walk, haha.
