If you love soy sauce–marinated crab (ganjang gejang), open your eyes wide for this one: a review of Deodeo Ganjanggejang Muhalliripil (더더간장게장무한리필), an Ilsan-area soy crab spot. As the name says, you can enjoy soy crab, spicy marinated crab and crab stew, a whole table of it. Our goal that day was simple: stuff ourselves silly with crab! 🤣

Deodeo's big sign makes it easy to find

When you get to the building, there's a huge sign reading "Deodeo Ganjang Gejang Muhalliripil" (all-you-can-eat soy crab), so you'll spot it as soon as you're nearby.

The parking area is fairly roomy, so parking wasn't hard.
Is there a wait at Deodeo at 2pm on a Sunday?
Yes. Even around 2pm on a Sunday there was a line, and we waited roughly 30–40 minutes. You arrive, write your name down yourself and wait, so it's an on-site sign-in system.

I thought, "The lunch peak must be over by now, right?" Nope! 🤣 People were already waiting. And here's the important part!! When I visited, you had to write your name on site, so don't park, take photos or go to the restroom first. Write your name down first! 🤣
A Blue Ribbon and TV-featured crab restaurant

At the entrance, I could see a Blue Ribbon sticker and signs showing it had been on TV, including KBS 2TV's Saengsaeng Jeongbo and SBS's Live Today. With so many people waiting and all this on display, my expectations shot right up.
So, shall we go in? After 30–40 minutes of waiting, we finally got in!! Given the crowd outside, the inside was packed with customers too.

Deodeo menu and prices
The all-you-can-eat set is ₩24,900 for adults and ₩10,000 for children (ages 6–10), and a bowl of rice is ₩1,000. There's also a regular set meal with soy crab and spicy crab, but we came all this way, so all-you-can-eat it is, right? 🤣 We ordered the all-you-can-eat set for two plus two bowls of rice.
- All-you-can-eat set ₩24,900 (adult)
- All-you-can-eat set ₩10,000 (child, ages 6–10)
- Bowl of rice ₩1,000
What side dishes come with the crab set?
After you order and wait, a whole table of side dishes comes out first. When I visited, it came with radish kimchi (kkakdugi), seasoned bean sprouts, seasoned bracken, seaweed (gim) and flying fish roe.

Steamed egg came as a free extra too, which was nice. Oh, right! It's not in the photos, but ramyeon noodles come as a free extra as well.
Are the all-you-can-eat soy crabs big and meaty?
The soy crab at Deodeo was clearly pretty big at a glance, and the meat was full. With all-you-can-eat crab you might think, "Won't the crabs be a bit small?" But the crab I ate was big and packed with meat.

And here comes the soy crab at last!! See how it looks? It's full of meat inside. It's not just a big shell: press down on the body and the crab meat really pushes out. Ahh, now that's something worth eating 🤣 So delicious!
Crab shell bibimbap packed with squeezed crab meat
Eating soy crab without the crab shell would be a letdown, right? Squeeze lots and lots of crab meat onto the shell.

Then mix in rice on top, and the crab shell bibimbap (rice mixed in the shell) is done! Ahh, if you love crab, you know this taste, right? It's nutty and salty, and the rice just disappears 🤣 One bowl of rice isn't enough for this.
Soy crab and flying fish roe wrapped in seaweed
But it would be a shame to stop at just rice, right? Put a little rice on a sheet of seaweed, pile on lots of soy crab meat, then top it with flying fish roe and take a bite. Ahh, perfect. The salty soy crab, the nuttiness of the seaweed and the popping texture of the roe all together make you keep wrapping more.
How does Deodeo's spicy marinated crab taste?
The spicy marinated crab (yangnyeom gejang) at Deodeo comes covered in red sauce, and the crabs aren't small and are packed with meat. The sauce in particular was so good that I kept reaching for more.

Since we had soy crab, we had to have spicy crab too, right? The crabs are coated in red sauce, and just looking at them makes you want rice.

The crabs in the spicy version aren't small either, and they're packed with meat inside, which makes eating them really satisfying. With spicy crab, the crab matters, but honestly the sauce matters a lot too, right? And the sauce was so good that I kept reaching for more.

Scoop out plenty of crab meat, put it on rice and dab on a little sauce to eat together. Ahh! See that spoonful of spicy crab piled high? ☺️
How to enjoy the crab stew alongside the crab
At Deodeo, crab stew (kkotgetang) comes out in the middle of the table, so it's great for alternating hot broth with the cold crab. Take a sip of the bubbling broth, then back to soy crab, then spicy crab, then broth again. Eating it that way was really the proper way.

If you only keep eating crab, it's mostly cold food, so you start craving something hot, and that's when a bite of crab stew hits. Ahh, this is the real deal. In the end I ordered extra rice that day and kept refilling soy crab and spicy crab, and I had a proper crab mukbang (eating show) until I was totally stuffed 🤣
Final verdict on Deodeo crab all-you-can-eat
Deodeo was an Ilsan-area crab spot where you can enjoy soy crab, spicy crab and crab stew in generous amounts. A whole table of dishes comes out, so it looks generous just to see. And even though there were so many customers, the staff were friendly, so I left in a good mood. If you're looking for a good soy crab place near Ilsan, or want to eat soy and spicy crab in generous amounts without worrying about the price, I recommend Deodeo 👍
- Soy crab + spicy crab + crab stew for ₩24,900
- Solid, big crab sizes
- Friendly staff even when busy
- Blue Ribbon Survey and TV-verified restaurant
