Gunpo pizza restaurant with half-and-half pies: Seonmyeonghui

When you want pizza fresh from the oven in Dang-dong, Gunpo

My grandmother and I were wondering what to eat in Gunpo, and it had been a while since we'd had pizza, so we went to Jagajebbang Seonmyeonghui Pizza (자가제빵선명희피자), Gunpo Branch. It was easy to find from the outside, with its red entrance door and a big “Seonmyeonghui pizza & Beer” sign. Pizza and beer were promoted right from the entrance, so it looked like a nice place for anyone looking for pizza and beer in Gunpo. Pizza is something I often order for delivery, but eating it right away at the restaurant when it's freshly made is just different, haha.

The restaurant was spacious and comfortable

What especially stood out about this visit was that the restaurant was more spacious and comfortable than I expected, so I'd recommend dining in to anyone looking for pizza in Gunpo. The ceiling was fairly high, and the space between tables did not feel cramped, giving the whole place an open feel. There were big floor-to-ceiling windows along one side, so it seemed good not only for two people but also for a group coming to eat pizza together.

Ordering a half pepperoni and sweet potato pizza

We ordered an M-size pizza! According to the menu, a basic M pizza was ₩21,000. But as we chose our pizza, having only one flavor felt a little disappointing, haha. So we decided on a half-and-half pizza! We ordered half pepperoni and half sweet potato. Choosing half-and-half cost an extra ₩2,000, and the menu combination we chose added another ₩1,000, so we could enjoy the two flavors we wanted on one pie.

I thought half-and-half would be a good choice when several people visit or everyone wants a different pizza. Before the pizza came out, we also ordered a salad. And we ordered soda too, but every other table was drinking beer! Almost all the tables had beer! I drove there, so I couldn't have any...

But I took photos while drinking soda, lol. Pizza and soda are a classic!! It wasn't beer, but I was fully in the mood before eating the pizza, haha.

Even in the photos, you can see that it came generously filled with vegetables such as lettuce and cherry tomatoes, with dressing on top, making it nice to pick at lightly before the pizza. Eating only pizza can get a little heavy, so it was nice to have the salad in between.

The fun of a half-and-half pizza with extra cheese

And finally, our half pepperoni + sweet potato pizza arrived! One side had tomato and pepperoni, while the other had sweet potato and corn, so they looked completely different from the start. Even though we ordered one pie, it felt like we were eating two kinds of pizza, and I was glad we chose half-and-half. The separated toppings also made it look even more appetizing in photos.

We love cheese so much that we added extra cheese! They said there was already lots of cheese even without it, but with the extra cheese, there really was plenty. When my grandmother lifted a slice, the cheese stretched out sooooo long, haha. I took a photo, and it properly captured that long cheese pull. I think this is the kind of fun you can feel only by going directly to a Gunpo pizza restaurant and eating it warm, rather than having it delivered.

Watching sports while eating pizza

Another fun thing was the huge screen! A baseball game was on when we visited, and because the screen took up a large section of the wall, it was easy to see from any seat. If you like baseball or sports, it seemed like a good place to watch a game while eating pizza. So if you're looking for pizza and beer in Gunpo with friends in the evening, ordering pizza and beer and watching sports on the big screen could make for a pretty great atmosphere.

Takeout discounts and parking

There was also something that might be even more welcome for people taking pizza home. When I visited, there was a notice for ₩5,000 off each pizza for walk-in takeout. If you live nearby, it may be worth keeping in mind when getting pizza to go in Gunpo.

It looked good for families like us coming out for pizza, and also for friends having pizza and beer while watching sports in the evening. If you're looking for pizza in Gunpo or a place in Dang-dong where you can sit comfortably and eat pizza, it's worth a visit!

For parking, I used Dang-dong 3rd Public Parking Lot. It was ₩1,200 for one hour, and came to ₩600 after the compact-car discount.
