For anyone looking for a good-value bar near Yeongdeungpo Station for a group get-together or company dinner, I’d like to introduce Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo (역전포장마차 영등포).

How close is it to Yeongdeungpo Station?
This is the exterior of Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo. It is 310 m on foot from Exit 5 of Yeongdeungpo Station, so the access was really convenient.

Retro pojangmacha atmosphere and space for groups
Here is the interior of Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo. It has that authentic retro pojangmacha (street-tent bar) feeling in spades, so drinks would go down nicely in its casual atmosphere.
The men’s and women’s restrooms are separate and well maintained, which makes it a great company-dinner venue too. The hall is divided into two sides, so it seems possible to reserve the inner area privately or use it for a gathering.
You can charge your phone, and there is a TV, so I think it would also be great for watching baseball or soccer.

Even the complimentary snack goes well with beer
The complimentary snack at Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo was a crisp, slightly sweet snack that reminded me of macaroni crackers. It was so tasty that I could easily have had two draft beers with just the snack.

This is the menu at Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo. With such low prices for soju and beer, I couldn’t help but recommend it to anyone looking for a good-value bar.

What do the whole garlic chicken hearts taste like?
The whole garlic chicken hearts I ordered at Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo were fried with fragrant whole garlic cloves, then dipped in mayonnaise and teriyaki sauce. They were easy to snack on, so they made a nice drinking snack for a second round.
The more I chewed, the more I enjoyed both the mild chicken hearts and the garlic.

Butter garlic fries are perfect with beer
The butter garlic fries I ordered at Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo were freshly fried and crisp—one of those can’t-go-wrong, impossible-to-dislike dishes. I know lots of people go to tteokbokki places just for these.
They tasted just like the ones from a tteokbokki place: sweet-and-salty seasoning with a creamy, rich butter-garlic flavor, perfect with beer.

For a second round or drinks with a meal
If you are looking for a group bar, company-dinner venue, or good-value bar near Yeongdeungpo Station, this would be a nice place for a second round. They also have dakbokkeumtang (spicy braised chicken) and gopdoritang, which are great for having a drink alongside a meal, so do give it a visit.
