Songpa Korean bar for cream tteokbokki and scallops: Jojomomo

In short

Jojomomo is a Korean bar in Songpa, Seoul, serving fusion drinking dishes and traditional Korean alcohol. We started with complimentary truffle potato salad, then had Hogamju, cream tteokbokki with seaweed and steamed scallops, and Bangi pajeon. Verdict: a cozy, satisfying pick for a date or group drinks.

Starting with complimentary truffle potato salad

The truffle potato salad is an easy appetizer to start with once you're seated, and it comes free with an order. The soft, fluffy potato salad carries a subtle, luxurious truffle aroma that makes the first bite impressive.

Personally, it was good enough that I wanted it twice. It wasn't overpowering, but pleasantly whetted the appetite—a perfect balance for starting the meal and drinks in earnest.

The fun of choosing a glass for your drink

This is a place where you really have to try the house alcohol! When ordering drinks, you can choose your own glass, and the variety of shapes makes picking one to suit your taste surprisingly fun.

Choosing a drink glass to suit your taste

We chose Hogamju this time, and I recommend it for its moderately fruity sweetness, clean finish, and lack of harsh alcoholic bite.

Cream tteokbokki topped with gamtae and scallops

The cream tteokbokki with gamtae seaweed and steamed scallops shows off Jojomomo's signature quality in full, and its appearance grabs your attention right away. The thick, nutty cream sauce pairs with chewy tteokbokki rice cakes for a crowd-pleasing yet elevated flavor that anyone would enjoy.

Personally, I loved the harmony of gamtae and scallops! Fragrant gamtae seaweed sits over fresh steamed scallops, adding an oceanic flavor, and the way it mingles with the cream sauce is wonderfully appealing. Its salty flavor is charming, though it was more intense than expected—making it even better as a drinking dish.

Crisp yet moist Bangi pajeon

Bangi pajeon (Korean scallion pancake), with its exceptional crispness, feels like an essential for a rainy day or a drinking table—and a dish no Korean could ever pass by. The moment it arrives, its savory smell gets your mouth watering. It was beautifully cooked: crisp outside, moist inside, and full of satisfying texture.

The steamed scallops came with thick, nutty cream sauce and chewy rice cakes, while fragrant gamtae sat over the fresh scallops, letting us enjoy the oceanic flavor perfectly too. Dip the bread in it!!

With generous amounts of fresh seafood and vegetables, these dishes pair perfectly with makgeolli, traditional Korean liquor, or a cold beer—and the gamtae aroma is seriously tempting.

The truffle potato salad we ordered as an appetizer on our visit was outstanding, with its subtle truffle aroma and soft potatoes. The can't-miss Bangi pajeon for Koreans was also beautifully cooked—crisp outside and moist inside—and made a fantastic match for makgeolli or traditional Korean liquor.
