Shin-chan-themed Jamsil bar for ₩100 beer and takoyaki: Wareureu

I heard about a spot near Jamsil Station that is easy to reach and has built a following for its unique vibe and great food, so I went to check it out. Here is my honest review of Wareureu Mansion Bangi Branch (와르르맨숀 방이점), a lively pub in Bangi-dong.

Wareureu Mansion Bangi Branch is at 11-8 Ogeum-ro 11-gil, Songpa-gu, Seoul, on the 2nd floor, 461 m from Exit 10 of Jamsil Station. It is open 14:00–04:00 (closing at 05:00 on Fridays and Saturdays), every day of the year.

• Parking: The parking entrance is in the alley by the building's back door. The first hour is free when you dine in, then it costs ₩2,000 per 60 minutes (max ₩5,000).
• Special event: Draft beer is ₩100 if you arrive before 7pm.
• Corkage: The first bottle is free, with no restriction on the type of alcohol, then ₩10,000 per bottle. On-the-rocks glasses and an ice bottle are provided.
• Note: Drinks sold in the shop can't be brought in as corkage, and you must order a main dish.

What's the atmosphere like at Wareureu Mansion Bangi Branch?

Unlike a dim, heavy standard hofjip (Korean beer pub), Wareureu Mansion Bangi Branch has bright lighting and a young, hip Crayon Shin-chan theme. Step through the door and that young, hip feel greets you right away. The bright, cheerful lighting and decor kept my mood up the whole time.

The big screen kept playing nostalgic Shin-chan movies, and it turns out the name "Wareureu Mansion" itself comes from that famous place in Shin-chan! Even from small, playful details like this, you can tell right away what kind of fun, cheerful pub this is.

₩100 draft beer before 7pm and the dishes we ordered

We arrived before 7pm and had four beers under the ₩100 draft beer event. We were lucky to get there before 7pm and enjoy this wild ₩100 beer deal! Along with the four event beers, we ordered plenty: the signature best sellers cream jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), Ppuryungkle boneless chicken and takoyaki (octopus balls), plus an extra Jongga-jip seasoned boneless chicken.

Scallop-loaded cream jjamppong

As a best-selling menu item, the cream jjamppong was the top pick for both looks and taste. A huge pot piled with scallops looked insane, and since it keeps simmering on a burner, it stays hot until the last bite. Plenty of savory cheese made it spicy yet creamy and rich, and the balance was a work of art. Plump shrimp and bacon were added generously too, so it felt a bit like eating upscale pasta.

Ppuryungkle boneless chicken & Jongga-jip seasoned boneless chicken

The Ppuryungkle boneless chicken is generously coated in sweet-salty seasoning with a popular appeal for all ages, and it pairs perfectly with the crispy texture. Next, the Jongga-jip seasoned boneless chicken reminded me of Chogajip's Supreme seasoned chicken: a bewitchingly sweet, soft sauce soaked into the batter, and I kept reaching for more.

Generous takoyaki

Even as a side dish, the takoyaki came in a pretty generous portion. Takoyaki ordered as a side at a pub usually comes with just a few pieces and little effort, but here, unusually, the portion was generous and surprised me. Crispy outside, moist inside, with dancing bonito flakes and sauce, it was a great snack.

Wareureu Mansion Bangi Branch was a great Bangi-dong pub where you can enjoy excellent dishes and cold drinks at good value in a fun, cheerful atmosphere.
