Songpa Korean BBQ: lamb rack even a skeptic loved, Dangsan Odol
In short
Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch is a charcoal Korean BBQ restaurant near Exit 4 of Bangi Station in Songpa, Seoul, serving lamb, pork, beef, chicken feet, noodles and rice dishes. The writer grilled a 200g lamb shoulder rack and 180g of kkodeulsal (chewy pork cut) over charcoal, then had perilla oil makguksu (buckwheat noodles) and haejang sulbap (hangover rice dish), and a companion who usually avoids lamb's smell enjoyed the lamb ribs. With both the meat and the sides satisfying, Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch is worth a return visit, next time for the mulberry-leaf sujebi (hand-torn dough soup).

I visited Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch, a Bangi Station restaurant just a 2–3 minute walk from Exit 4! It's close to Olympic Park, so it would also be a good spot for a meal after an outing.

Where to park at Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch
There's a big parking lot behind the building, and valet is available for an extra ₩2,000. Skip the main entrance on the main road side and head behind the building, where quite a lot of cars fit. ₩2,000 for valet is pretty cheap.
You don't have to walk back around to the front door, either, since there's an entrance from the parking lot straight into the restaurant.
Seating and the group room at Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch
The restaurant has tables for 4, 6 and 8, plus a group area for up to 36 inside a big room with a sliding door. The interior is really spacious with lots of seats, and it was packed with customers by dinner time. Still, the tables are spaced generously, so it wasn't rowdy and we could eat comfortably.
I think the private group room, great for company dinners, gatherings and events, is a real plus of Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch ⛧ Group seating requires a reservation after contacting the restaurant.
There's also a separate spot to wash your hands, so you don't have to go all the way to the restroom. Convenient!

Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch menu and what we ordered
The drink and alcohol menu was seriously huge! It's not easy to find a place with Fanta pineapple and orange, you know~

There's even coffee to drink after the meal~~

The meat options include beef, lamb, pork and chicken feet, and the sides were varied: lunch menu items, dessert items, and noodles or meal dishes you can have as a meal or alongside the meat. Here's what we ordered that day.
- 🍖 Lamb ribs, 1 portion (₩25,000)
- 🥩 Kkodeulsal (pork neck), 1 portion (₩18,000)
- 🥣 Perilla oil makguksu (buckwheat noodles) (₩10,000)
- 🥘 Haejang suldeok-bap (hangover-cure rice soup) (₩15,000)

The benefits of mulberry leaves: basically, "it's good for you"~ I had the haejang suldeok-bap that day, but maybe I should have gone for the mulberry-leaf teolleogi sujebi (hand-torn dough soup)🤔🤔

The restaurant also posts grilling instructions.
- ✔️ Kkodeulsal and pork skin: flip every 15 seconds
- ✔️ Pork neck (moksal): flip every 20 seconds

Side dishes and charcoal grill at Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch
The basic sides are ssam vegetables (lettuce wraps), pickled onion, pickled perilla leaves, seasoned radish, sliced pickled radish for wrapping, fresh wasabi and salt, and since we ordered lamb ribs, cumin seasoning (zira) came too.

Whether a BBQ place uses charcoal matters a lot when I choose one, and Dangsan Odol gave us a generous amount of charcoal. The heat was strong so the meat cooked fast, which I loved! They also put meljeot (salted fermented anchovy dip) on the charcoal for us.

Our lamb and kkodeulsal arrived.

Is Dangsan Odol's lamb rack good if you dislike lamb's smell?
The lamb ribs are ₩25,000 per 200g portion, served as shoulder rack with green onion. It looked thick and nicely marbled.
Lamb ribs taste tender and full of juicy flavor when not cooked all the way through, so grill them carefully🫡 Once they're partly cooked, cut off the bones and remove them.

It was full of juice and really tender. I was worried because my companion doesn't like the smell of lamb, but they ate it so happily, can you believe it haha
How kkodeulsal tastes and how to grill it at Dangsan Odol
Kkodeulsal is ₩18,000 for 180g, a special cut from the pork neck that comes in small amounts. I'd seen lots of reviews saying it's delicious, so I was looking forward to it.

Meat and fat are nicely mixed, and since the lamb ribs were so good, my expectations for the kkodeulsal went even higher.

Flip the kkodeulsal every 15 seconds as you grill. Sure enough, it was chewy but not tough, and delicious. Especially, dab a bit of fresh wasabi and eat it with the pickled perilla leaf, that's the kicker!
Dangsan Odol perilla oil makguksu: add plenty of soy sauce
The perilla oil makguksu is ₩10,000 and comes with soy sauce.

Without soy sauce at first it was plain and mild, but when I added a bit more soy sauce than I expected, it got savory and I finished it all.
What does Dangsan Odol's haejang sulbap taste like?
The haejang suldeok-bap is ₩15,000, and I ordered it because I was craving a spicy, hot broth.

It's loaded with bok choy and dried shrimp, and the broth is cool and spicy, a taste that cures a hangover as you eat.

Even though I was getting full, the spicy broth was so good that I kept eating and eating, haha. The meat is delicious and the sides are too, so next time I visit I'm definitely trying the mulberry-leaf sujebi!!
