Ramyeon in the stew at a Seoknam-dong sashimi restaurant, Incheon
In short
Uridongne Yeonan Budu Seoknam Main Branch is a flatfish (dodari) sashimi restaurant on Sinseok-ro 77beon-gil in Seoknam-dong, Incheon. Arriving at an odd hour in the afternoon, the writer ordered the two-person table set for two people and ate through the banchan spread, hoe-muchim (spicy mixed raw fish salad), flatfish sashimi for two, and a spicy stew finished with instant ramyeon noodles. Long, boneless slices of flatfish and a stew broth worth mixing rice into are why Uridongne Yeonan Budu is worth the wait.

Hey, it's me, the guy who eats sashimi with style. I went to check out Uridongne Yeonan Budu, a Seoknam-dong favorite known for top-tier flatfish.

10 minutes on foot from Seoknam Station, and where to park
Uridongne Yeonan Budu Seoknam Main Branch sits near a MG Community Credit Cooperative branch. It's about a 10-minute walk from Exit 6 of Seoknam Station, where Incheon Subway Lines 2 and 7 cross, so access is pretty good. I'd recommend parking in advance at the nearby Gangnam Market public parking lot and walking over.

This Seoknam-dong favorite lures you in with its live fish tanks even from outside. Even though I came at an awkward afternoon hour, most tables already had sashimi and soju going. This is the kind of place where you have to accept a wait during peak hours, so I felt lucky to get a seat.

What comes with the two-person table set at Uridongne Yeonan Budu?
The menu here lives up to its reputation as top-tier flatfish. You can choose between the set or à la carte table options, but ordering the set per person is the most reasonable move. I went with the two-person table set, which comes with sashimi, hoe-muchim, and spicy stew.

Not long after ordering, the basic sukiyaki-style banchan spread from this Seoknam-dong favorite arrived. Steamed shrimp, seasoned shrimp, abalone, sea squirt, red seabream — all kinds of seafood, plus pickled radish, pickled ginger, seaweed salad, baek-kimchi (white kimchi), makjang (fermented soybean paste dip), chili, garlic, and fresh wasabi to go with it all. Properly done.

Banchan first: red seabream, abalone, and sea squirt
Starting with the sweet-and-sour, crunchy seaweed salad, I moved on to the red seabream — and oh my. I usually only eat common fish like flounder or rockfish, but a bite of red seabream was surprisingly sweet.

And then the precious abalone sashimi and sea squirt — it felt like the ocean itself landed in my mouth. I haven't managed a vacation yet, but eating seafood here almost made me smell the sea.

Bean sprout kimchi soup and freshly pan-fried, crispy kimchi jeon (kimchi pancake) — clearly the owner's thoughtful gesture for soothing a hangover. This combo made it hard not to drink soju, but since I drove, I had to hold back. Next time I'll come without a car and definitely have a drink.

Mixing the hoe-muchim into rice for hoedeopbap
Right then, the hoe-muchim (spicy mixed raw fish salad) included in the set arrived — sweet, tangy, crunchy, genuinely speechless-good, this Seoknam-dong favorite's hoe-muchim. Mixing it into the bowl of rice served alongside to make hoedeopbap (raw fish rice bowl) is the real move, so make sure to eat it that way.

The corn butter was sweet and poppy too, so I kept scooping more. When you're eating salty food, you crave something sweet, and having this in between hits the perfect balance.

Flatfish sashimi for two, sliced long and slurped like noodles
Then came the sashimi for two! It really has the dignity of top-tier flatfish. No bones or fine spines at all, sliced long, so it's genuinely fun to slurp like noodles.

The sashimi itself was so good I thought it'd taste amazing even just dipped in sesame oil dip. The more you chew, the sweeter and chewier it gets — I was completely won over. I accidentally dropped a piece into the vinegar-chili sauce while taking photos, but I'd recommend dipping minimally to enjoy the natural flavor.

Wrapped in a big perilla leaf with chili, garlic, and makjang, the fragrance plus the spice was excellent. Flatfish, sweeter and better than flounder, is truly a dish only insiders know about. And I'll go ahead and say this place is the top tier of them all — I totally get why people wait.

Finishing with spicy stew, ramyeon noodles, and rice
I was already full when the spicy stew showed up — why is the pot so huge? Loaded with hearty fish, dumpling dough bits, and bean sprouts, it's genuinely generous. They even threw in instant ramyeon noodles, so I cooked it all up properly.

Wow — one taste of the broth and my stomach just settled, so I even added rice. The slurpable ramyeon noodles, the meaty fish still clinging to the bones — all genuinely delicious. The stew is amazing scooped up with rice mixed in, so don't miss it till the very last bite.
Bongsami's verdict on Uridongne Yeonan Budu
So after visiting Uridongne Yeonan Budu, this Seoknam-dong favorite, my personal takeaway is that it's a sashimi restaurant with real top-tier flatfish credentials. Every time I go, I leave fully satisfied and willingly accept the wait for this flavor. If you want to experience proper flatfish, go check it out with style!
