BYOB bar in Ansan's Gojan-dong: Omyrose and garlic yuringi at Yuksul

In short

Yuksul (육술) is a Korean gastropub in Gojan-dong, Ansan, specializing in mungtigi (fresh raw beef chunks), beef sashimi and yukhoe (seasoned raw beef). Yuksul offers free corkage for one bottle, so the writer brought a gifted bottle of Omyrose Yeon (오미로제 연) to pair with the Yuksul set (58,000 won) and garlic yuringi (fried chicken in a tangy soy sauce, 24,000 won), and the many sides kept every bite interesting. With roomy, comfortable second-floor seating, Yuksul works well for both group nights and dates.

I went looking for a good bar to enjoy great food and drinks in Gojan-dong, Ansan, and ended up at Yuksul. The dishes were delicious and corkage was free, so I'm writing this honest review feeling super satisfied! This place is also known by word of mouth as an Ansan spot for yukhoe (beef tartare) and mungtigi (raw beef slices). My overall verdict is at the very bottom.

Yuksul has long been a popular bar in Gojan-dong, Ansan! It's known by word of mouth as a go-to spot for yukhoe and mungtigi in Ansan.

Mungtigi, beef sashimi, and yukhoe are their main offerings.

On weekdays, they only use beef slaughtered that same day, so the yukhoe and mungtigi are incredibly fresh.

What are the vibe and seating like at Yuksul? There's a second floor

Yuksul's space is spacious and comfortable! There are seats on the second floor too. The lighting is soft and cozy, making it great for blind dates or regular dates too. I'd recommend it if you're looking for a date bar in Ansan.

Free corkage for one bottle: bringing Omyrose Yeon to Yuksul

Fitting for a Gojan-dong bar in Ansan, they have a wide range of drinks too — sake, soju, highballs, whiskey and more. And the best part: corkage for one bottle is free!!!

I brought a bottle of Omi Rose Yeon that I'd been gifted. They prepared an ice bucket and glasses for me. Omi Rose Yeon turned out to be a lot less sweet than I expected, and really tangy.

What comes in the 58,000-won Yuksul set?

That day we ordered the Yuksul set (₩58,000). It comes with yukhoe, beef sashimi (mungtigi), gamtae (seaweed) rolls, vegetable rolls, smoked cheese, raw mushrooms, poached egg sauce, and more. For an extra ₩3,000, you can swap half the beef sashimi for mungtigi!

This is the basic beef radish soup that comes with the set — it's heartier and saltier than expected, perfect for curing a hangover!

Gamtae, omalaengi (dried squid and radish), gungchae pickles, and aged kimchi also come out with the meal.

I tried the beef sashimi wrapped with aged kimchi and gamtae, and also with raw shiitake mushrooms!

This is the special poached egg sauce — sweet and salty, and the spicy kick from cheongyang chili peppers cuts right through the richness.

I dipped the yukhoe in black sesame sauce, then tried it dipped in the poached egg sauce along with minari (water celery)!

I topped a gamtae gimbap with yukhoe dipped in the poached egg sauce! The Yuksul set at Yuksul, a bar in Ansan, has so many varied sides that I never got tired of it — you get to enjoy so many different flavors.

The smoked cheese is also great to nibble one piece at a time while drinking, once you start getting full!

Adding garlic yuringi for 24,000 won

Feeling like something was missing, we ordered garlic yuringi (₩24,000) on top!

Garlic yuringi piled high with raw garlic and chili peppers

It comes piled with raw garlic and chili peppers in a seriously intense way haha. Once you mix it well, there's vegetables, well-fried chicken, and sauce all mixed together inside.

The chicken was crispy and warm, while the vegetables and sauce were tangy-sweet and cold — the combination was just perfect. Highly recommend if you love garlic!!

Choosing your own glass and a women-only restroom at Yuksul

At Yuksul, you get to choose the glass you want every time you order a drink — it's a fun little detail!

One thing I really liked: there's a women's-only restroom, so it's clean and comfortable. They even stock hair ties, floss, and blotting paper — such thoughtful attention to detail!
