Ansan bar for tomato jjamppong pasta and song requests: Banwolga

Today I’m going to write about Banwolga, a bar in Gojan-dong, Ansan, that I visited with a friend.

Banwolga location and visitor information

It’s on the first floor, in Units 103 and 104 at 175-11 Gwangdeok 3-ro, Danwon-gu, Ansan, Gyeonggi-do. It is open daily from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m., with closing at 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays; group visits, reservations, and birthday perks are available. There is no separate parking lot, so you’ll need to use a nearby paid lot.

Menu and review event

Here is the menu at Banwolga, the bar in Gojan-dong, Ansan—!! Yep, that’s right. Banwolga is a bar that most people from Ansan know. It is especially famous for yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) and mungtigi (thick-cut raw beef). Apparently about 90% of visitors order them. But I’m Geumung, a contrarian who belongs to the other 10%, so I did not eat the yukhoe or mungtigi (?)! There are so many options, from main dishes to simple bites.

Antique interior and song-request service

This is the interior of Banwolga, the bar in Gojan-dong, Ansan—!! The atmosphere and interior have such a nice antique feel ♥ There are regular tables and bar-counter seats too!!

For the restroom, go out the back door and it is three lunge-steps away (?) The owner is so witty. They had Febreze, hand cream, hair ties, floss, and mouthwash ready for us.

Another thing I loved was that they take song requests—!!! I’m the type who always has music playing when I’m home alone, so I immediately put in a request.

Complimentary snacks and drinks

You can order by pressing the bell—!! Individual plates, water glasses, and vitamins were set out, and the complimentary snack was pretzels dusted with onion seasoning ♥

My friend had beer, and Geumung had soju. The soju was slightly frozen, almost like a slushie. Sooo good. The beer came in stainless-steel cups, so it stayed cold for ages ♥

For food, we ordered one main dish and ginkgo skewers for a simple bite. The food took about 12 minutes!!

【Tomato jjamppong pasta】It comes fully cooked, so you can dig in right away, and they gave us a burner to keep it nice and hot ♥ The portion was seriously enormous... oh wow... I was hungry, so that was nice. Since it is jjamppong pasta, the broth had a bit of spice and was perfect with soju.

The broth was rich and spicy, which I loved, and it had a good variety of seafood. The shrimp was not fishy at all, and the squid was chewy and delicious.

The two of us kept serving ourselves proper portions, yet there was still so much ♥ Did a sinkhole open up in this ttukbaegi (earthenware pot)? It was funny how it never seemed to run out, no matter how much we ate (?) The pasta noodles stayed springy instead of going soft, and they had soaked up that rich broth—so tasty ♪

My friend enjoyed it too ♥ Do you all remember? This is my favorite human keychain. I guess they are shy because they are appearing on my blog for the first time in ages.

Ginkgo skewers picked for beer

【Ginkgo skewers】We also ordered ginkgo skewers, which are perfect with beer. I have an old-lady palate (?), so I really love ginkgo skewers. It had been a while since the two of us had a proper drinking session, so we happily kept pouring and drinking ♥

Koreans are a people who love a good time, right? We got excited while drinking and put in song requests ♥ A song by Shin Ye-young that I’m into lately ♪ and a WOODZ song my friend is into ♪ They played them right away as soon as we requested them. Thank you.
