In short
Sushi Ianen Nowon Station is a conveyor belt sushi restaurant on Nohae-ro 81-gil near Nowon Station in Seoul, where every plate costs 1,990 won. Unable to eat raw fish while pregnant, the writer stuck to cooked shrimp sushi, egg sushi, fried tofu sushi and California rolls, and the couple finished 25 plates. I was craving sushi so badly today that I went to Sushi Ianen Nowon Station. I'd had a really good meal at Sushi Ianen's Wirye branch before, so this time I checked if there was a location near my house — and sure enough, there's a Nowon Station branch. Right now I can't eat raw food because I have Maru (my baby) on the way, so I was looking for a conveyor belt sushi place where I could pick and choose what I could actually eat. So this time I visited Sushi Ianen Nowon Station, one of the places that came up when I searched for sushi restaurants near Nowon Station!

Every plate 1,990 won: conveyor belt sushi that's great value

Sushi Ianen Nowon Station's biggest strength is definitely the price. A flat ₩1,990 per plate! Each plate of sushi costs less than 2,000 won, so you can pick as much as you want without worrying about the bill. You can enjoy over 70 different menu items at that same flat price — everything from basic fish sushi like flounder, salmon and tuna, to yukhoe (beef tartare) sushi, fried shrimp, uni and more depending on your taste. So for anyone looking for conveyor belt sushi in Nowon on a budget, I'd recommend Sushi Ianen Nowon Station.
Sushi made by a hotel-trained chef
Apparently Sushi Ianen has a hotel-trained chef making the sushi. They say they use same-day domestic live fish and Norwegian salmon, and eating it, the ingredients were genuinely fresh throughout with good texture. Especially with fish sushi, the balance between rice and fish really matters! The fish wasn't too thin or mushy — it had a firm, chewy bite that I liked. Combined with being able to pick from about 70 menu items to suit your taste, I think this is a great place to visit if you're looking for sushi near Nowon Station.
How to join the waiting list on Catch Table

I left work right on time and rushed over, so luckily there was no wait at first. But not long after, once dinner time hit, a line formed quickly. You can join the waitlist through the Catch Table app, and there are waiting seats inside the store so you can sit comfortably while you wait. If you're planning a visit, it might be worth avoiding peak dinner hours. Especially if you're after this popular sushi spot near Nowon Station, I'd recommend checking the wait before you go!
Seating for solo diners and family meals alike

The restaurant has both bar seats and table seats. The bar seats work well whether you're dining alone or with 2–4 people. The layout doesn't make solo diners feel awkward, so it seemed like a good spot for anyone wanting to eat sushi by themselves. The table seats are better for groups of 4 or more, or families with kids. Since I'm pregnant, I was seated at a table, which made eating comfortable. This kind of seating setup seemed like it would work well for families looking for conveyor belt sushi in Nowon too!
Delivery and takeout from Sushi Ianen

Besides dining in, takeout and delivery are also available! There are assorted sushi sets as well as options to pick individual items, so it's great if you want simple sushi at home. On days when you can't make it to the store, takeout or delivery is a good option too.
Sushi Ianen events and free plates

It's worth checking the events before you visit.
1️⃣ Event 1 — Visit between 11:30–12:00 or 17:00–17:30 and get a free bowl of udon or cold soba per table. This applies when you order 10 or more plates per table.
2️⃣ Event 2 — Order 50 or more plates per table and get 5 plates free; order 100 or more and get 10 plates free. You can pick whichever plates you want!
3️⃣ Event 3 — Stylish soldiers who visit in uniform get unlimited soda cans, any kind. Event details may change depending on when you visit, so treat this as a reference only!
What comes set on every table
Each seat comes with soy sauce, wasabi, pickled radish and ginger as a basic setup. You take as much as you need to suit your taste, and they also give you a separate soup broth, which was a nice pairing. If you need vinegar sauce or miso soup, you can just call a staff member and they'll bring it.

If there's a dish you need, you can just ask the chef directly. Also, wooden or stone plates get stacked separately from the sushi plates, and staff clear them regularly. At a conveyor belt sushi place where plates keep piling up as you eat, this was a surprisingly convenient touch.
Picking your sushi straight off the belt

The biggest appeal of conveyor belt sushi is being able to pick whatever you're craving right on the spot! Different sushi keeps rolling by on the belt, so whenever something tasty-looking passes by, you just grab it.

If what you want isn't on the belt, you can order it separately from staff. Since I currently can't eat raw food, I mostly ordered cooked dishes, and they made them right away, which I appreciated. They kept the belt stocked too, and whenever something freshly made came out, they'd let us know what it was. That was part of the fun of conveyor belt sushi in Nowon too!
First up: cooked shrimp sushi

The first things I tried were bacon shrimp and cheese shrimp. I usually love raw shrimp, so it was a little disappointing not to be able to eat it right now, but the cooked shrimp was firm and springy — better than I expected. The combination of shrimp and sauce worked really well together, so it was easy to eat without feeling heavy.

There's also fried shrimp sushi, and I'd recommend eating it right when staff announce it's fresh out. Eating it hot and crispy right after frying tastes so much better!
Not on the belt? Order it on the spot

I was craving rolls that day, so I ordered a menu item that wasn't on the belt too — California roll! They made it fresh as soon as I ordered, and it had egg inside so it was nutty and delicious. At a conveyor belt sushi place, you don't just have to eat what's already on the belt — if there's something you want, you can request it right away, which I liked! That's what made Sushi Ianen Nowon Station a place where picking your favorites is genuinely fun.
Egg sushi, the sushi restaurant basic

There's one dish I always try whenever I visit a sushi restaurant — egg sushi. I personally think if the egg sushi is good, it's a real sushi restaurant. Sushi Ianen had both regular egg sushi and cheese egg sushi. The egg was thick and mild, tasty without being overly seasoned overall — the kind of flavor kids would like. I also had fried tofu sushi, which was sweet and nutty as always, easy to eat without feeling heavy. If you're looking for sushi near Nowon Station to bring kids to, I'd recommend starting with these dishes!
A soy sauce tip worth knowing when eating sushi
Here's a small tip that sushi regulars might already know. Instead of dunking your whole sushi piece into soy sauce, use the ginger like a brush to apply it instead. Dip the ginger lightly in soy sauce, then brush it over the sushi — this way you don't over-dip, and you get a subtle ginger aroma on top too! I usually eat it this way, and it makes it much easier to control how much soy sauce you're using.
My husband's favorite: flounder sushi

Next up is my partner's favorite — flounder sushi. He usually likes white fish sushi, and he liked the flounder at Sushi Ianen Nowon Station too. Well-aged flounder has that chewy, springy texture, and the flounder we had that day had good texture as well! If you like flounder, definitely try the flounder fin too — it's especially recommended if you like a chewy bite.
Sushi Ianen's most popular plate: beef tartare sushi
If you come to Sushi Ianen, there's a dish I personally think you have to try — yukhoe (beef tartare) sushi. There's both yukhoe sushi and yukhoe tataki sushi, and I heard both are good, so I'm planning to try them next time. The yukhoe comes with a sweet-savory sauce that looked like it would be tasty on its own even without rice. I sadly had to skip it this time since I can't eat raw food right now, but once Maru is born, I'm definitely coming back for this. It's a dish I want to properly enjoy next time.
Around 70 items means plenty to choose from

There's also swordfish garlic steak sushi, freshwater eel sushi and more on the menu. With around 70 menu items, it's not a one-and-done kind of place — there's real fun in trying a variety of things. It would suit fans of fish sushi, but also people like me who want to mix in cooked sushi, rolls, tartare and fried items. So if you're looking for conveyor belt sushi in Nowon, I'd say the sheer range of choices is one of Sushi Ianen's strengths.
Finishing at 25 plates
My partner and I visited together and finished with a total of 25 plates. The best thing about conveyor belt sushi is really being able to eat exactly as much as you want! Eat a lot if you want a lot, or just pick a few plates if you want less. It's especially well suited to people who want to try a bit of everything. Since I currently can't eat raw food, I mostly stuck to cooked sushi, but next time — once Maru is born — I want to come back and properly enjoy the fish sushi and yukhoe sushi too!
Would I go back to Sushi Ianen Nowon Station?
What I liked most about Sushi Ianen Nowon Station was being able to try a wide range of sushi at such an easy price. Especially at ₩1,990 a plate, there's little pressure on the wallet, and with around 70 menu items, it suits anyone who wants to try a little of everything. It's also great that there's a bar for solo diners and tables for families, so you can use it however fits your visit.
Even in my current situation where I can't eat raw food, there were plenty of options I could still eat — cooked shrimp, egg, fried tofu, rolls — so I ended up eating a satisfying amount. Next time, once Maru is born, I want to come back and properly try the yukhoe sushi and fish sushi I missed out on this time. If you're looking for good-value conveyor belt sushi near Nowon, or a place where you can pick from a wide variety of dishes to suit your taste, I think it's worth a visit. Sushi Ianen Nowon Station is going on my list of places to come back to whenever I'm craving sushi in Nowon :)
