Lamb chops with a wagyu add-on in Ansan Jungang-dong: That Man's
In short
That Man's Italian Restaurant & Lounge is an Italian restaurant in Ansan's Jungang-dong, within walking distance of Ansan Jungang Station. A couple ordered the French rack lamb chop steak as two pieces with one wagyu steak piece added, plus shrimp rosé risotto, comparing medium-well lamb and medium-rare wagyu on the same plate. Because the add-on removes the choice between lamb and wagyu, both arrived on one date-night dinner and both satisfied.

I was looking for a nice-atmosphere Western restaurant in Ansan's Jungang-dong and ended up at That Man's Italian Restaurant & Lounge (그남자의이태리식당&라운지)!

That Man's Italian Restaurant & Lounge: hours and how to get there
That Man's Italian Restaurant & Lounge is open daily 12:00–22:00, with a break time of 15:00–17:00 and last order at 21:00. It's an easy walk from Ansan Jungang Station too.

That Man's Italian is easy to reach on foot from Jungang Station~ and apparently it's run together by an Italian chef with 20 years of experience and a service manager with 15 years of experience haha

Inside That Man's Italian: the dining room and the private room
The interior alone screams date-spot material 🤍 calm and perfect for coming on a special day!

The tables are spaced out pretty generously and there's a private room too, so it seems great for blind dates, dating, birthdays, anniversaries — any day you want to dress up the mood! And apparently it's also used a lot for family meals, meetings between families before a wedding, or first-birthday parties as a group gathering ◡̈
The terrace view at That Man's Italian
The terrace especially is just so cute~

Once you step out there are cute little props everywhere and the lights come on at night for even more of a mood

On a nice-weather day it seems like it'd be great vibes to have a glass of wine out there!

A kitchen putting care into every single dish…!

How many wines does That Man's Italian pour?

With 40+ bottle and glass wines prepped, next time I want to come in the evening and pair a delicious wine along with it 🍷

What two people ordered at That Man's Italian
We picked the shrimp rosé risotto and, since it'd been a while since we cut into a steak, agonized over lamb chops vs. wagyu for a long time before ordering French rack lamb chop steak (2 pieces) + adding wagyu steak (1 piece) hahaha
Enter the FIFA-concept cola and cute ice cup~

The pre-meal bread is so soft, and dipped in olive oil it's ridiculously good-!! The bread quality was so high I was already excited for the main dish!
Is the shrimp rosé risotto too rich?
The tomato-to-cream ratio in That Man's Italian's shrimp rosé risotto is so well balanced that even I, who can't handle rich Western food, finished it to the last bite. Plump whole shrimp are piled right on top.

First off, this visual is just so pretty 🧡 shrimp, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, and even a pretty flower on top, it genuinely looked mouthwatering haha. I did worry a rosé might be too rich, but the second we tasted a spoonful we were both like 'this rosé is actually so good' and just kept scooping it up!

A rosé with a high cream ratio can sometimes sit heavy in your mouth as you eat, but here the tomato sauce and cream sauce ratio is spot on, so it's creamy but the tomato's brightness comes through too — smooth but not the least bit heavy. That's rosé done right.
The rosé risotto was delicious, but the shrimp surprised me even more! Since they're fresh raw shrimp, they're plump and juicy with genuinely deep flavor haha. Loading up one shrimp per spoonful of risotto is just... wordless 🧡
French rack lamb chop steak, with the option to add a wagyu piece
At That Man's Italian you can order 2 pieces of French rack lamb chops and add 1 piece of wagyu on top. Thanks to that we got to try both without having to agonize over lamb vs. wagyu.

We wanted French rack lamb chops so badly but also wanted wagyu, and it turned out you can order 2 pieces of French rack lamb chops and add 1 piece of wagyu!
I love this kind of option ㅠㅡㅠ You don't have to give up on either one!

I ordered the lamb chops medium-well! The outside was seared golden brown while the inside kept its juices perfectly intact — wow… the flavor was insane ㅠㅠ

Since it's French rack from lamb under 12 months old, the meat was noticeably more tender and soft! You get a rich, nutty meat aroma with zero gaminess and juices bursting everywhere~

What surprised me again was how good the garnish next to the steak was! Grilled eggplant, zucchini, and mushrooms came out, and every single vegetable was delicious?! Eaten with the steak juices, the vegetables' sweetness came through, so we cleaned up the garnish too 💕
The top 1% AA9+ wagyu steak
I ordered the wagyu medium-rare, and the outside was nicely seared while the inside stayed a moist pink 💕 Just looked so good.

If the lamb chops were all nutty aroma and flavor, the medium-rare wagyu felt a bit more tender with juices practically flowing out haha

The two had completely different flavor profiles, so I was really glad we ordered both! I was totally obsessed with the nutty lamb chops, and my boyfriend loved the wagyu steak!
Final verdict on That Man's Italian in Ansan
There were so many tempting-looking dishes here that it was hard to choose what to order, but everything we got today was fully satisfying! The shrimp rosé risotto's cream sauce wasn't heavy at all, it was bright, so even I, who can't handle rich Western food, finished it happily to the end haha, and the lamb chops had amazing flavor while the wagyu was juicy and tender — the steaks were a total success too!
Best of all, being able to eat both lamb chops and wagyu without having to choose was such a great feature! If you're looking for a nice-atmosphere Western restaurant near Ansan Jungang Station or a great date-night restaurant in Ansan's Jungang-dong, That Man's Italian Restaurant & Lounge is well worth a visit ◡̈ Next time on a nice-weather day I'm definitely coming back for pasta and a glass of wine on the terrace haha 🩵
