Sinchon burger joint: phone-tap orders and gloves, Bored & Hungry

I've been so busy with my academy classes lately, ugh! The academy is near Sinchon, so I went to Bored & Hungry Mapo (보어드앤헝그리 마포), a famous Sinchon date spot and handmade burger place. It's known as the burger that Snoop Dogg fell for, and as one of the best burger joints in Korea. Here's my honest review of the tasty handmade burgers I had there :)

Where is Bored & Hungry Mapo, and is there parking?

Bored & Hungry Mapo is 251 m from Daeheung Station Exit 4, at 36 Gwangseong-ro 6-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul (1st floor). There's no parking provided, so use a nearby public car park.

A Sinchon-area burger favorite, Bored & Hungry Mapo! The exterior is super hip and really stands out. You can also rent the space, so ask the owner if you need it^^ The Gyeongui Line Forest Park is close by, so it's a great place for a walk after your burger :)

Inside Bored & Hungry Mapo: the atmosphere

Bored & Hungry Mapo stands out for its vivid, colorful interior! It was full of customers, so I only photographed the empty tables. The mood is great too, which makes this handmade burger place a good Sinchon date course.

There's a basket under each table for your belongings, and you grab forks, knives, plates, ketchup and drinking water from the self-serve bar.

How do you order at Bored & Hungry Mapo?

You unlock your phone and hold it against a designated spot on the table to order. It made picking dishes with friends easy, which I liked :)

Of the popular burgers at Bored & Hungry Mapo, a Daeheung Station favorite, we ordered the Shrimp O.G burger set and the Classic Cheese burger set.

The price changes depending on which side and drink you choose. We went with butter garlic fries and corn ribs for our sides!

What's at the self-serve bar, and are soda refills free?

The self-serve bar at Bored & Hungry Mapo has forks and knives, wet wipes, hot sauce, tissues, straws, plates, free stickers, and not ordinary plastic gloves but black nitrile gloves. Next to the bar there's also a space selling and displaying merch.

Even the self-serve bar is styled hip, and it was well stocked with everything you need. There's drinking water too, and if you order a soda you can easily refill it at the bar, which I loved^^

They give you a cup of ice, and I grabbed everything I needed from the self-serve bar, nice and efficient!

Our Shrimp O.G burger set and Classic Cheese burger set arrived^^ I filled my cup with Pepsi Zero!

What does the Shrimp O.G burger taste like?

The Shrimp O.G burger at Bored & Hungry Mapo comes with a brioche bun, sriracha sauce, frillice lettuce, a shrimp patty, red onion and mentaiko mayo (myeongran mayo, made with seasoned pollock roe)!!

I really recommend trying the Shrimp O.G, the most famous burger at Bored & Hungry Mapo!! The shrimp patty is absolutely huge, and the soft brioche bun and mentaiko mayo go so well with it^^ The greens are frillice lettuce, which is softer than regular lettuce and works nicely with the burger!

Halfway shot! The shrimp patty is really thick and packed with shrimp, and it's not the soft, mushy cocktail-shrimp feel we usually get. It's a patty full of chewy, meaty shrimp, so I enjoyed it a lot! My friend and I raved that it was the best shrimp burger we'd ever had in our lives :)

Who is the Classic Cheese burger for?

The Classic Cheese burger at Bored & Hungry Mapo comes with a brioche bun, classic cheese sauce, a smash patty, American cheese and grilled onion! The burger packaging is so cute that it made me laugh, haha

For true cheese lovers this is a feast of flavor! The patty, cheese sauce and grilled cheese were all salty and rich, so good, ugh! I'd recommend it to meat and cheese lovers more than veggie lovers, and it was a properly made handmade burger, so delicious!!

The corn ribs, the best side at Bored & Hungry Mapo!!!!

Corn ribs let you enjoy corn like you're gnawing on ribs(?)! A tasty powder, like Puringkle (Bburingkle) seasoning, is sprinkled on top and you dip it in the sauce. It felt like eating real ribs, so I had so much fun. I'd guess it's the side dish customers order most at Bored & Hungry Mapo, a Daeheung Station favorite^^

Butter garlic fries that everyone can enjoy, no matter their taste!! French fries and butter garlic sauce are a great combination.

Honest review of Bored & Hungry Mapo

Bored & Hungry Mapo is close to the Gyeongui Line Forest Park and has a hip interior, so I'd recommend it as a burger place for a Sinchon date! This handmade burger spot was originally popular in Seongsu and has now become famous around Daeheung Station too. The side menu is varied and the burgers themselves were really good!

The signature Shrimp O.G burger especially was so good that I felt I'd met the shrimp burger of my life. The Classic Cheese burger, where you can taste the richness of the meat, was also great, and the sides, corn ribs and butter garlic fries, matched the burgers well and had their own character!!

Drinks can be refilled without limit and the self-serve bar is well set up, so I was personally very satisfied with Bored & Hungry Mapo in Sinsu-dong, Mapo-gu!! I recommend going before it gets even more famous as Korea's trendiest brand^^
