A Hongdae pasta restaurant greeted by an adorable Omil character — I went with my kid. Every dish is ₩16,900~18,900, and honestly, for this quality that's great value.
Where is Omil Hongdae and how do you get there?
It's on the 2nd floor at 178-8 Yanghwa-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul, just 139m from Hongik University Station Exit 4. Both Line 2 and the Airport Railroad work.
Come out Exit 8, walk about 2 minutes, turn right at the Starbucks on your right, and Omil Hongdae is straight ahead on the 2nd floor! It's across from Hongdae AK Plaza (LC Tower, Yeonnam CGV) so it's easy to find. If you're driving, use the AK Plaza underground paid parking (186 Yanghwa-ro, Mapo-gu, basement) — it's a 1-minute walk. Note there's no separate parking support from the restaurant!
How to join the waitlist with the Tabling app
Hongdae is always crowded, so since I was visiting with my child, I went at 6pm when the wait tends to be relatively shorter.
Luckily we got seated right away with no wait, and a couple registered on TableLing right behind us.
After registering on TableLing, you absolutely must fill in your info within 3 minutes or your spot in line gets skipped. I missed this on my first visit and ended up waiting with my kid twice for 15 minutes each — 30 minutes total, haha, ugh.
Also, everyone in your party must arrive together before entering. If the place is full and your whole group isn't there yet when your turn comes up, you may have to wait again, so make sure you all arrive at once.

How the rubber duck omurice and pollack roe pasta taste
My kid ordered the rubber duck omurice (₩16,900). It came with a cute chick made from quail eggs and a rubber duck toy as a gift, so my child's eyes lit up.
Soft egg over fried rice with an addictive sauce combo — my kid, who'd said they had no appetite, finished the whole thing. That's how well it matched my child's taste!
I ordered the spicy pollack roe oil pasta (₩18,900). It was loaded with pollack roe and plenty of roasted garlic — really great! Salty pollack roe with spicy oil pasta is the best combo! I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who likes oil pasta!
Truffle fries and basil-tomato ade
For a side, we ordered truffle fries (₩9,900). Last time I got the buckwheat soba maki but the portion was way too much;; This time I switched to truffle fries, and there wasn't a single complaint, haha! I wanted to try the whole corn fritters too, but the staff proactively warned me it might be too spicy for my kid, so I avoided it.
For drinks, we ordered the basil-tomato ade (₩7,900) — refreshing and clean. The basil aroma is nice, but drinking tomato as an ade was a unique experience! It made me want to try making it at home!
Atmosphere at Omil Hongdae and tips for dining with a child
The Omil character that greets you at the entrance also shows up all over the restaurant, decorated with cute little props!
Phone charging is available too, so use it if you're in a pinch! Water and side dishes are self-serve at a station.
Since I had my kid with me, the staff asked and made sure to bring a kid's chair and cutlery without me even asking! They also offered to swap out the fillings in the buckwheat soba maki to make it non-spicy for my child!
Hours are weekdays (Mon–Wed) 11:30–21:15, weekends (Sun) 11:00–21:15, with last order at 20:30!
