I recently had such delicious jokbal (seasoned braised pork trotters) near Guro Station! Honestly, it was my very first time eating jokbal at a proper jokbal restaurant, and I got properly introduced to chewy jokbal, so much that I'm already craving it again. This is the story of The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch (더족발 신도림본점)~!
What is The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch like on a weekend evening?
The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch was already bustling and completely full on a weekend evening. If you see an exterior like this, you've come to the right place! It had a total local-favorite feel, and it was surprisingly.. hot!!! You could really feel, okay, this place is the real deal~ haha
The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch menu and tablet ordering
The menu at The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch was super simple, mostly jokbal and bossam! Which, for a jokbal place, made me even more excited.. haha. Still, there were lots of flavor variations for the jokbal, so there were quite a few choices!
Once you sit down, you can browse the whole menu on the tablet at the table and order from it, so that's what I did haha. I usually love that sweet-salty garlic flavor, so I mixed that in and ordered half-and-half~!
How was the garlic half-and-half jokbal for a first-timer?
The food came out quickly after ordering, along with a soup to warm the stomach. I was insanely hungry, and it came so fast that it filled my empty belly right away.. haha. Starting with the soup to settle things down was perfect too~!
But wait.. the jokbal looked so good! It was my first time ever eating jokbal fresh and hot at a restaurant, and honestly today was the first time I'd even wanted to try it, so it's not a dish I was close with..! But it looked so good and so delicious that my eyes went straight to it!
When I actually ate it, it was glossy, chewy, tasty and sweet, just like it looked, the kind of flavor nobody would dislike! Best of all, it had just been boiled, so it was super warm and delicious. I felt like I was eating jokbal at its very best!
Jokbal with salted shrimp: a sweet-and-salty pairing
Putting a bit of salted shrimp (saeujeot) on each piece of jokbal gave a proper sweet-and-salty combo. People said The Jokbal is a jokbal hotspot, and now I see why! It was so tender and delicious that I thought it's a great place to start with jokbal, haha. The salted shrimp combo was a huge hit for me!!!
Are the rice balls worth ordering with jokbal?
The rice balls (jumeokbap) at The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch were a real kick too! Eating them one by one with the jokbal made them a stand-in for a bowl of rice (I'm the type who absolutely has to eat rice..haha), and they pair nicely with the meat for a filling meal lol

The jokbal at The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch had no smell at all and filled me up nicely, which I loved! The meat was so tender and soft! It completely washed away my prejudice against jokbal I hadn't even tried lol I was so satisfied that I want to come back for more jokbal, and I'm already looking forward to it, my jokbal debut lol
The portion wasn't small, but even so! The food at The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch disappeared in no time as I ate. If you want proper jokbal near Guro or Sindorim Station, visit The Jokbal and get a real jokbal initiation~!
