Bangi-dong Korean BBQ: 3-person samhap for two at Chowon Salt Grill
In short
Chowon Salt Grill (초원소금구이) is a chadol samhap (beef brisket, scallop and aged kimchi) Korean BBQ restaurant in Bangi Food Alley near Jamsil Station in Songpa, Seoul. On a rainy day, two of us ordered the 3-person chadol samhap and doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and loved the fresh scallops, tender hanwoo (Korean beef) special cuts and well-aged Haenam kimchi. The meat at Chowon Salt Grill is good enough with just salt, so it is a 1000% revisit and an easy recommendation for anyone looking for beef in Bangi-dong or a team dinner spot.

A rainy-day craving for beef in Bangi-dong: Chowon Salt Grill
Chowon Salt Grill (초원소금구이) is a brisket samhap BBQ restaurant at 37 Ollimpik-ro 32-gil, Songpa-gu, Seoul (1st floor), in Bangi Food Alley near Jamsil Station. The monsoon seemed to be on its way, with a gray sky and rain, and whenever it rains I crave either meat or pajeon (Korean savory pancakes) haha. A familiar taste is a scary thing.. At times like that a restaurant from memory pops into my head, and my number one is Chowon Salt Grill in Bangi-dong. 1000% I'll go back, and I'm recommending it as a top-tier BBQ spot in Bangi-dong.
How long is the wait at Chowon Salt Grill?
There was a wait even at 5 p.m.! When I went there was no Catchtable (reservation app), so we had to wait on the chairs in front of the restaurant. Sign of a truly great restaurant: there's a wait even without Catchtable haha.

How many servings of chadol samhap should two people order?
Chowon Salt Grill is a samhap specialist, so the menu is simple. My partner and I went as a pair, but we ordered the 3-person brisket samhap hahaha. We could have managed the 4-person one.. but we also wanted doenjang jjigae and rice.. so we held back.. and ordered the 3-person samhap plus the jjigae. I wanted to try the doenjang ramyeon too, but this time I'll go with the stew and rice.

A little pricey, you say?! Everything is domestic haha. Oh, and I really, really love Jeolla-style kimchi, so I was so excited about the Jeolla aged kimchi T_T
Chowon Salt Grill side dishes and Cheongyang chili soy sauce
You don't need any other side dishes at Chowon Salt Grill.. for the pure flavor of beef, scallop and aged kimchi, salt, oil dip and ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) are enough.

Fish the Cheongyang chilies (spicy green chilies) out of the soy sauce and eat them with the samhap,, honestly no more words needed T_T I'm going on a trip next week and plan to eat this exact combo for dinner..
What's in the 3-person chadol samhap: brisket, hanwoo special cuts, scallops, Haenam kimchi
The 3-person brisket samhap at Chowon Salt Grill comes with brisket, special cuts, Haenam aged kimchi and scallops. Eeek, it's here, it's here!! Ahh T_T doesn't it look so good? Is there anyone who doesn't like this..? No, there isn't! When I make a fuss like this, it means it was really delicious T_T

Can you eat the scallops lightly cooked?
The scallops at Chowon Salt Grill are fresh, so apparently you can eat them barely cooked. But my stomach is sensitive and it's summer, so I cooked them through haha. Then I tried them lightly cooked too.. and I had no stomach trouble the next day, and there was no fishy taste at all, just very, very good..!!

Are the hanwoo special cuts under the brisket tough?
I really love brisket, but honestly.. the meat under the brisket looked kind of tough, you know? It wasn't tough at all, it was tender;;.. not some low-quality beef that just fills up the plate, it was insanely good.. must be because it's hanwoo (Korean beef) haha.

What Haenam aged kimchi from Jeolla-do tastes like
This is that Jeolla-do Haenam aged kimchi. Jeolla kimchi is different even in color, kind of orangey? So good T_T I don't like sour flavors, so a moderately aged kimchi like this was even better!

I hadn't been drinking much lately, but ordered soju for the first time in a while haha.
How to grill chadol samhap and the best bite combinations
They heat the grill plate up well before putting the brisket samhap on hahaha.

Perks of brisket: insanely tasty, cooks insanely fast. Use the brisket to grease the plate lightly, then add the scallops. The scallops cook quickly too T_T it would have been hard to wait if they cooked at different speeds, so I like that they're similar!

Hahaha scallop, brisket and aged kimchi. It's good even without dipping in anything, and I liked it best dipped in just salt! The ssamjang is good too, everything is just good!! I bet wasabi would be great too hahaha.

And how good are the mushrooms grilled together with the brisket?!

And the hanwoo special cuts that were under the brisket were just as good as the brisket T_T Try the samhap on top of a Cheongyang chili from the soy sauce. Honestly it feels like the best of all the Bangi-dong restaurants T_T_T Please do visit as a brisket samhap spot!!

Ahh I haven't had lunch yet, and writing this post is making me even hungrier T_T It's so delicious that I strongly recommend it to anyone looking for Bangi-dong beef. And! A place like this is where you want to come for a team dinner so you can eat a lot, right?! Please keep it in mind for Bangi-dong team dinners too haha.
Is the doenjang jjigae at Chowon Salt Grill worth ordering?

The doenjang jjigae at Chowon Salt Grill is packed with brisket, and rice comes with it. It came out a while ago, but I wanted to show off the meat so much that I'm introducing the stew late haha. It was full of the tofu and mushrooms I like T_T Pour the rice in and it's practically doenjang booze-rice, that's how thick and rich the stew is. Definitely try it. Next time I'm going to order the doenjang ramyeon!!
Chowon Salt Grill verdict: friendly service and seating for team dinners

After we finished eating, Chowon Salt Grill even gave us Mentos candies..♡ They were so kind from start to finish, and I remember how confident they seemed about using good beef haha. If you're looking for BBQ in Bangi-dong, go to Chowon Salt Grill at least once..!! With a combination and flavor nobody could dislike, I don't think anyone will be disappointed..
Round tables can be pushed together for seating, so I strongly recommend it for team dinners in Bangi-dong and Jamsil too.
