Suncheon restaurant open on Chuseok, bone hangover soup: Namdareun

Bongbongbong's trip to Suncheon, Jeollanam-do! Time to share my Chuseok holiday trip to Suncheon.

This trip! I went during Chuseok haha, and I visited Namdareun Gamjatang in Jorye, Suncheon, which stays open every single day — Chuseok holiday and public holidays included.

Namdareun Gamjatang Suncheon Jorye branch is open daily from 10:00 to 23:00, with a break time from 15:00 to 17:00 and last order at 22:20. It's located at 123 Baekyeon-gil, 1F, Suncheon-si, Jeollanam-do.

Traveling burns a lot of energy, right? You need a hearty meal to refuel.

It's located in the heart of Jorye-dong, so it was very easy to find, and as soon as I stepped inside, a spacious, clean hall greeted me. There's a dedicated parking lot too, so parking was super convenient haha.

Even during the holiday, the place was full of energy — families and travelers alike. The staff greeted us with bright smiles too, so it was a solid first impression.

A wide, clean interior haha — it looked great for families too. Being open every day of the year is honestly a huge perk for travelers, like a dependable safe haven.

A self-serve corner unlike others! Unlimited broth and ramen noodle refills — and side dishes were ready too, which was great haha.

What is the bone hangover soup (ppyeohaejangguk) like?

Once seated, I didn't hesitate and ordered the signature dishes at Namdareun Gamjatang Suncheon Jorye branch: ppyeohaejangguk (bone hangover soup) and budae haejangguk (army stew hangover soup).

Not long after, the bone hangover soup arrived, generously piled up in a stone pot, and the sight alone made me let out a gasp. Such a rich, deep broth!

It tasted like it had been simmered with care for a long time — clean, with no gamey smell, yet bursting with rich umami. Excellent.

The moment I took a spoonful, my whole body melted and all the trip fatigue just washed away.

Every bone had tender, thick meat clinging to it without gaps, so picking it apart was genuinely fun. Dipped in mustard sauce, it melted softly in the mouth.

Enjoying the meat together with glass noodles was so good.

Army stew hangover soup with cheese and perilla powder

The army stew hangover soup was also so delicious haha. Loaded with perilla leaves, perilla powder, green onion, and cheese, the broth was savory, spicy, and smooth all at once — excellent!!

The deep umami seemed to melt away layers of fatigue at once, so my spoon kept going back for more. The clean taste with no gamey smell also made it great as a hangover cure.

I enjoyed it so much with the ramen noodles mixed in!!

During the day it's a hearty, satisfying meal in Jorye-dong, and at night it's a great Jorye-dong spot for a spicy broth with a drink — a perfect choice whenever you come.

Worth it as the first meal of a Chuseok trip to Suncheon

Even during the special circumstances of the holiday, I got to enjoy a warm, carefully made meal! This Jorye-dong, Suncheon restaurant made the start of my Suncheon trip smooth and happy.
