Haeundae Chinese restaurant for a spacious date: Bueokgan

Before going on a café tour around Dalmaji, we looked for a nearby restaurant so we could have a proper filling meal first. Rather than somewhere cramped or noisy, we wanted a comfortable place where we could sit and talk, and Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch, a Haeundae Chinese restaurant in a standalone building with a huge dining hall, caught my eye.

The interior looked pretty too, and it was in the perfect spot to head straight up toward Dalmaji Hill after eating, so we stopped by.

It is in a standalone building in the Dalmaji commercial area, so it was easy to find.

If you are driving, you can park in the underground lot behind the building, or easily use the curbside spaces in front of and opposite the restaurant, so parking was no trouble at all.

Inside, the approximately 50-pyeong dining hall feels wonderfully open and comfortable. Rather than an East Asian-style look, it is decorated more like a European furniture shop, and the warm mood of the George Nelson bubble lamps really stood out.

Unlike typical Chinese restaurants where tables are packed tightly together, there was plenty of room, making this a Haeundae Chinese restaurant well suited to dates or group gatherings.

A meal of jjajangmyeon, jjamppongbap, and whole-garlic yuringi

Once seated, we ordered one each of jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles), jjamppongbap (spicy seafood soup with rice), and whole-garlic yuringi (fried chicken with tangy sauce).

Overall, the food was cleanly styled and easy to enjoy, without being overly intense or flashy. Both the jjajangmyeon with its thick pieces of meat and the yuringi served over lettuce made for a comfortable meal.

An easy route to Dalmaji-gil cafés after your meal

Honestly, this space's greatest appeal is the comfort and the route it gives you throughout the meal.

The wide spacing between tables and pretty interior made it really nice to take our time chatting. Best of all, after the meal, a short drive brings you to the lovely cafés lining Dalmaji-gil, so I could not think of a better location for a date course.

Can I bring wine or other alcohol?

Yes! One of the great things here is the free corkage. It is free for up to three bottles, while a ₩15,000 fee applies from the fourth bottle, which is useful to know if you are planning a gathering.

Is parking easy even for a beginner?

There is an underground parking lot, but because you can also park curbside in front of or opposite the restaurant, the parking difficulty is very low. Feel free to visit without worrying.

Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch was a Haeundae Chinese restaurant where you can enjoy a relaxed meal in a wide, comfortable space, away from the greasy, hectic atmosphere. It was fun just looking around the restaurant's beautiful interior, and its location was perfect for continuing a date over coffee in Dalmaji afterward.
