Korean BBQ in Baebang, Asan: 1kg beef ribs for 4 at Seokjeongwon
In short
Seokjeongwon Asan Branch is a charcoal-grill beef rib restaurant on the food street in front of Baebang Station in Asan, Chungnam. Two couples ordered 1kg of sogalbisal (boneless beef rib meat, 74,000 won), half plain and half marinated. Mushrooms, asparagus, cheese and sushi rice came with the order, and a 200g serving of kkotgalbisal (premium beef rib cut) was won in the review spinning-wheel event. Seokjeongwon Asan Branch: a Baebang Korean BBQ for sharing beef with a group
Seokjeongwon Asan Branch is an amazing value sogalbisal (beef rib meat) restaurant in Baebang. We went back and forth for a while deciding what to eat for dinner with another couple, ended up here, and left so satisfied that I'm writing this up right away.
Beef always comes at a price, so going as a group can feel like a bit much sometimes, right? But Seokjeongwon's value for money is so good that even a group visit felt totally stress-free! If you're ever thinking 'I want to eat beef to my heart's content today,' this is a place you can drop into without worry. I've laid out the location, menu, and taste review below, so if you're ever near Baebang, make sure to stop by!
Where is Seokjeongwon Asan Branch? The food street by Baebang Station
Seokjeongwon Asan Branch is right by the restaurant row in front of Baebang Station, so it's really easy to find! Being so close to the subway station makes it a perfect meeting spot, and I liked how convenient the access was!
Seokjeongwon menu and beef rib prices

Seokjeongwon's main dish is sogalbisal, with 1kg priced at ₩74,000. They also sell a variety of other cuts, including kkotgalbisal (flower beef rib), LA galbi, udae-galbi, teukyang, daechang, and makchang.
Sogalbisal comes in three portion sizes: 1kg, 500g, and 200g.

Side dishes and self-serve bar at Seokjeongwon
Seokjeongwon's basic banchan (side dishes) are chive salad, two house sauces, perilla leaf pickles, and pickled onion. Since we had reserved ahead, the basic banchan was already set out when we arrived.

The chive salad and two house sauces come out neatly plated, along with perilla leaf pickles and pickled onion that go great as a side. Paired with the beef, this lineup cuts right through the richness — a solid combo!

At the self-bar you can grab extra side dishes yourself — green onion kimchi, seaweed, fresh wasabi, and more are prepared there. Seokjeongwon's green onion kimchi is genuinely delicious, so make sure to eat it with the beef.

The grill runs on charcoal with great heat!

What does 1kg of beef rib, half plain and half marinated, look like for four?
The two couples of us, four people total, ordered Seokjeongwon's 1kg sogalbisal split half marinated, half plain. King oyster mushrooms, button mushrooms, and asparagus came included on top of the meat when it arrived, so it looked full and satisfying from the start, and I really loved the whole composition!

Sushi rice was also included as standard, so we could make beef sushi ourselves!

The meat came cut into perfect bite-sized pieces, so all we had to do was throw it on the charcoal and grill it up — so convenient.

On top of that, cheese came included as standard, and wrapping well-grilled meat in that nutty cheese doubles the savoriness — a totally insane combo.
Plain vs. marinated beef rib at Seokjeongwon: how do they taste?

Seokjeongwon's plain sogalbisal isn't seasoned at all, so you can taste the clean, savory flavor of sogalbisal that bursts more the more you chew, along with its natural juices.

Seokjeongwon's marinated sogalbisal has a sweet, salty marinade soaked right into the meat, giving it that irresistible seasoned-galbi flavor that just clings to your mouth.
Personally, the marinated sogalbisal was totally my style, but if you eat only marinated meat the whole time, it can get a little much, right? So ordering like we did — half plain, half marinated — and grilling them alternately seems like the best combo for enjoying it without getting tired of it till the end!
Seokjeongwon's review spinning-wheel event and the bonus kkotgalbisal

Seokjeongwon Asan Branch is running a spinning-wheel review event, where if you win a prize, it gets saved to your account for use on your next visit! Actually, the couple we went with had visited before, spun the wheel, and won 'flower beef rib'—

— so thanks to that, we got to try 200g of kkotgalbisal (flower beef rib) as a complimentary treat on this visit.

The kkotgalbisal came cut into cubes, and the marbling alone was insane!

Tasting it, it just melted in my mouth — genuinely incredible.
Inside Seokjeongwon Asan Branch: is it good for group dinners?

The interior of Seokjeongwon Asan Branch is clean and spacious overall, making it perfect for couple gatherings, work dinners, or family meals out with a group. Seokjeongwon — a sogalbisal restaurant in Baebang that nails both value and flavor! Between the reasonable price, the generous banchan spread, and the quality meat, I left completely satisfied.
