Where is Songtan Jindaegwang Budae Jjigae Seongsu Branch, and is there parking?
Songtan Jindaegwang Budae Jjigae Seongsu Branch is on the 2nd floor of a building, a 1-minute walk from Seongsu Station, and the building has parking for about 2–3 cars. There are lots of paid parking lots nearby, so keep that in mind! I parked in a nearby lot and walked up.
Attention, everyone who's serious about army stew (budae jjigae, a hearty stew of sausage, ham and noodles)! This Seongsu army stew favorite is packed with premium sausage, so you get the real deal.
The inside is rea-lly big. I went right at opening time, but as lunchtime got closer, a whole lot of tables filled up before I knew it.

Songtan Jindaegwang menu and tablet ordering
You order through a table-order system, and the Jindaegwang army stew comes in sizes for 2, 3 or 4 people. Add-ons include smoked sausage, premium sausage and assorted sausage.
Side menu items are fried sundae, sweet bunmoja churros, seasoned bunmoja (chewy starch dumplings) and pork loin cutlet. We ordered the army stew for 3, plus the pork loin cutlet and the fried sundae.

Self-serve bar with free rice and side dish refills
There's a self-serve bar in the middle of the restaurant where you can refill rice and side dishes as much as you like. (Just take what you'll eat!) The basic sides are stir-fried fish cake, pickled onion and scallion kimchi.
Army stew and stir-fried fish cake are always delicious. It's a surprisingly good combo.

How to enjoy Jindaegwang army stew at its best
They bring a kettle of broth to the table by default, and apparently it's best to add a little at a time as you eat, because the flavor of the vegetables keeps seeping out. As for the ramyun noodles, rather than putting them in from the start, it's best to add them after you've eaten about half.

How does the premium-sausage Jindaegwang army stew taste?
Once the Jindaegwang army stew comes to a rolling boil, you can dig right in, and it's loaded with sausage, no holding back. It looks like 3 or 4 kinds. Best of all, there was lots of green onion, which I loved.
With army stew, the broth really is what matters. It's clean rather than greasy, mild, and gets richer the longer it simmers. The flavor was excellent.
A real rice thief! Every bite is full of ham. The pork content must be high, because the meat flavor was great. It's exactly my kind of army stew, which is why I like Songtan Jindaegwang Budae Jjigae Seongsu Branch.

The ramyun noodle add-on is Jin Ramyun
Unusually, the ramyun noodle add-on here is Jin Ramyun (a popular Korean instant noodle brand). You can really taste a difference from ordinary ramyun noodles. Since it's Jin Ramyun, I bet it would also be good with a little of the seasoning powder sprinkled in.
We just put in the noodles plain, and I liked that they didn't have that typical flour smell. Ramyun noodles are an absolute must in army stew. Even though I was full, it was so good that I added one more!

I also liked that they brought plenty of broth. The portion is generous, and it feels like the ham keeps multiplying. No matter how much I ate, there was still a pile of ham.
How were the fried sundae and pork loin cutlet sides?
The fried sundae's sweet-and-spicy fried chicken sauce flavor goes well with the crispy sundae, which makes it a surprising treat. It's a great side. I'd definitely order it again on a return visit.

The pork loin cutlet came out next. Eating it with the army stew like a side dish was delicious. It's crispy outside, a decent thickness, and that popular, crowd-pleasing taste that anyone can enjoy.

Dessert: Yakult or slushie, plus coffee
For dessert you can have Yakult (a sweet probiotic drink) or a slushie, plus coffee. A Seongsu meal spot that even takes care of dessert!
