Wangsimni aged-meat BBQ restaurant where staff grill for you: Yukseong
In short
Yukseong is an aged-meat Korean BBQ restaurant on Muhakbong-gil, between Wangsimni and Sangwangsimni stations in Seongdong, Seoul. The order was the 550g pork set (pork neck, gabrisal, skin-on pork belly), 210g skirt steak and bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles), all grilled from start to finish by staff over eco-friendly corn fuel, with a pre-meal drink and beef radish soup served as standard. Yukseong suits anyone who wants aged pork and beef in one sitting without touching the tongs.

I went to a really delicious aged-meat restaurant in Wangsimni. Here's my review of Yukseong.

Yukseong sits between Wangsimni Station and Sangwangsimni Station, within 300m walking distance of both, so I'd recommend taking public transit. That said, the paid Yuseong Parking Lot is nearby too, so driving works fine (₩2,000 for the first 30 minutes, ₩2,100 per additional 30 minutes).
The exterior has a stainless steel sign with a bold tiger logo that really stands out. I was even more curious about what the inside would look like.
Inside Yukseong: the dining room and corkage policy
Stepping inside, I felt almost overwhelmed by the tiger mural covering the wall. The wood-heavy interior paired really well with the warm lighting.

One wall displayed bottles available for corkage — as the menu shows, you can pair your meal with more than just soju, including wine and other drinks.

The restrooms are separated for men and women inside, which was a nice, hygienic touch.
Yukseong's menu and what we ordered
Yukseong's menu is posted outside too, and you can really feel the tiger theme there as well.
The concept here is aged meat, covering both pork and beef dishes. That day, staff recommended a few pork and beef items. We went with the pork set (550g: pork neck, gabrisal, pork belly), skirt steak (210g), and bibim naengmyeon.
Side dishes, pre-meal drink and beef radish soup, all included

After ordering, sauces and vegetables came out as banchan (side dishes). The cabbage salad and pickled mustard greens were both lightly seasoned and good enough to eat on their own. Uniquely, this place gives you a free pre-meal drink (wine), though you can swap it for soju, beer, or a soft drink — we went with beer.

They also serve beef radish soup as a default. It was great for warming up before the meal. I think drinkers alone could polish off a whole bottle just with this.

There were also self-serve salt and pepper dispensers on the table. I'd only ever seen staff use these while grilling, so trying it myself was actually fun.

The 550g pork set: pork neck, gabrisal and skin-on pork belly
We started with the Yukseong pork set — from the bottom, pork neck, gabrisal, and skin-on pork belly. The rosy color alone had me convinced it would taste great.

You see more places these days grilling meat over corn-based fuel. This spot uses eco-friendly corn fuel too, so I was curious how it would affect the flavor.

Staff grill the meat start to finish so you can eat it at the perfect moment — crispy outside, juicy inside. That timing was really something.

The sauces provided were wasabi, garlic shrimp sauce, pickled chili, and ssamjang (Korean dipping paste), but the meat was so good that just salt and pepper was plenty.

The pork neck was fantastic, and the gabrisal was really moist too.

The skin-on pork belly, grilled crispy, was totally my favorite part haha — the fat had such a nice, rich flavor.

A bite of the bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) alongside it was refreshing and reset my palate so I could start all over again.

How was the 210g beef skirt steak?
By this point I was really curious about the skirt steak they'd recommended when we ordered, so we tried it too. Doesn't it look delicious just from the photo?

Skirt steak is close to an organ meat cut, so I was a little worried it might have a strong smell if not handled well.

One bite in, though, and it was full of juice with a rich, satisfying beef flavor — genuinely delicious.
Who is Yukseong best for?
If you want to properly enjoy aged meat in Wangsimni, Yukseong is worth recommending. If you're looking for a great aged pork spot in Wangsimni, want to enjoy beef in the same sitting, or want a Wangsimni date or group BBQ spot where you can eat comfortably without grilling it yourself, this place is worth a visit :)
