Wonju café with Uva milk tea and matcha tiramisu: Coffee Grip
In short
Coffee Grip is an everyday café in Bangok-dong, Wonju Innovation City (Gangwon), near the National Health Insurance Service on Geongang-ro. On a weekend afternoon, the writer had a 3,800 won iced Americano made with nutty beans (a brighter, acidic option is also available), along with Uva black tea milk tea, a Dubai egg tart and matcha tiramisu, all served in glassware. With good beans, desserts baked daily and free underground parking, Coffee Grip works well for both solo coffee breaks and work meetings.

A daily café in Innovation City that satisfied from the beans to the desserts. "Coffee Grip"

- The combo of nutty beans and dessert was the best.
- The Uba black tea milk tea is a must-try!
- The vibe was so comfortable I want to go back.
A cup of coffee during pregnancy, and why I picked Coffee Grip
Since getting pregnant I've been cutting back on caffeine as much as possible. So on the days I do have coffee, I don't just drink it anywhere — I look for a place where the beans are genuinely good. Coffee Grip is somewhere I saved right after my first visit.

Location near the Health Insurance Service, parking, and payment
Coffee Grip is near the National Health Insurance Service, so it's easy to get to, and the free underground parking made it convenient to visit by car. It's already famous as the café near the Health Insurance Service, and once I went myself I immediately understood why it's packed every lunchtime. It also takes local currency, Zero Pay, and easy pay, which made things convenient!

Coffee Grip is open daily from 07:00 to 18:00. Opening early makes it perfect for stopping by before work!

Who I'd recommend Coffee Grip to
- Anyone looking for a café near the Health Insurance Service
- Anyone looking for a Wonju Innovation City café with good beans
- Anyone who loves a café with great desserts too
- Anyone looking for a solo café visit, date, or work meeting spot
- Anyone looking for a comfortable place to rest in Bangok-dong

What's the atmosphere like at Coffee Grip?
The first thing I felt walking into Coffee Grip was a "cozy, clean atmosphere." Sunlight came in through the floor-to-ceiling windows so it never felt stuffy, and the chairs were comfortable enough to sit in for a long time. Good for chatting with a friend, and just as good for sitting alone with a coffee to relax!

Looking for a quiet, comfortable café to relax in Bangok-dong? It's Coffee Grip~!

The meaning behind the name Coffee Grip written on the wall left an impression on me too.
If you can understand coffee, the coffee you've grasped will grip you back.
Just like that line, it was a café with real sincerity toward coffee.

Menu and how to order at Coffee Grip
Coffee Grip's prices are reasonable! There's a coffee menu plus various drinks and smoothies, and you can choose your beans and your milk. Decaf can be ordered as cold brew.

The desserts are baked in-house every day and looked so tempting!

Kiosk ordering is available and various local currencies are accepted too. We ordered an iced Americano (chose the nutty beans), Uba black tea milk tea, matcha tiramisu, and a Dubai egg tart. They said on busy weekday lunches drinks come in takeout cups, but since it was the weekend and quieter, we got them in pretty glass cups, which made it even more enjoyable.

Tasting the iced Americano and Uba black tea milk tea
First, the Americano. At Coffee Grip you can choose between bright acidity or nutty beans, and I went with nutty. From the first sip there was a rich, nutty heaviness, and the finish was clean too — really satisfying! I'd say it's one of the best-tasting beans among Wonju Innovation City cafés. The ₩3,800 price was also nice and easy on the wallet.

And the best part of this visit was the Uba black tea milk tea. The subtle black tea aroma was really appealing, and the sweetness wasn't overdone, so I kept reaching for it. I chose it instead of coffee since I'm pregnant, but honestly I'd recommend it just as much as the Americano! The "dessert we paired it with exceeded expectations" too

Dubai egg tart and matcha tiramisu
The Dubai egg tart had Dubai-style filling piled on top of a crisp tart shell, and the texture was genuinely fun. The softness of the egg tart paired so well with the nutty filling that one bite in, I understood exactly why it's a popular item.

The matcha tiramisu had a strong matcha aroma with a cream so soft it seemed to melt in my mouth. It wasn't too sweet, so it was a perfect balance to eat alongside coffee >_<
The drinks were generously sized and the desserts were high quality, so if you're looking for a good café in Bangok-dong, I'd recommend giving this one a visit. Thanks to a good cup of coffee and dessert, it felt like a proper caffeine transfusion of a day. Next time I'm going back to try the other cakes!
