How crowded is Hanmaeum on a Friday evening?

I got to Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang's Wonju Enterprise City branch around 6:30 pm on a Friday and more than half the place was already full. This was last Friday, when I visited this Enterprise City pork belly spot that has a playroom and works for company dinners too. Evenings are really busy, so I recommend booking on Naver ahead of time.

The restaurant is about 100 pyeong and holds 180 people at once, so it was huge. It was much bigger and roomier than I expected, honestly, I was so surprised. With that much space plus private rooms, it's perfect for company dinners and family gatherings.

Is the Hanmaeum playroom good for families with kids?

Above all, the playroom is well set up, so it's a great place for families with little kids to get together. Maybe because it was a Friday evening, most of the customers were families with young children.

Everything was ready, from baby chairs to kids' tableware (spoons, forks, divided trays and so on). The self-bar was well stocked too, so it was very easy to use.

Aged half pig 500g and the basic table setting

The meat was aging nicely in the aging fridge at Hanmaeum. Hoping for great meat, I ordered the aged half pig (500g) and a bowl of rice.

As you'd expect from a big restaurant, staff bring out the basic banchan (side dishes) themselves, and a serving robot delivers most of the other orders.

A table full of banchan! I only ordered meat, and this much still comes out. Doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) is part of the default setting, so you don't need to order it separately.

The meat comes out thick and really appetizing.

I tried the well-grilled meat with the banchan one by one, and everything went so well together.

There was myeongi namul (pickled wild garlic leaves), and eating doenjang jjigae with rice just slid down. Without ordering anything extra, the basic banchan are so plentiful that it's a great value meal.

Ice cream for dessert and the Friday evening wait

Ice cream is the perfect way to end a meal out! Hanmaeum has an ice cream machine, so you can finish your meal and get dessert too. And the ice cream is actually good!! I ate it without expecting much, and it was yogurt flavor. (It reminded me of Yoayjeong, the yogurt ice cream chain.)

When I finished and left around 7:30 pm on Friday, 3-4 groups were waiting. Book on Naver in advance!! Highly recommended!!
