At a friend’s recommendation, I went to Moshi Moshi PNU Branch (모시모시 부산대점) for lunch. We chose Set 4, “The Better One,” and had sushi, shrimp tempura, and momil (cold buckwheat noodles). With a wide variety of sushi plus noodles and tempura, it was a filling meal for two.

How do you get there from Busan National University Station, and is parking available?

The restaurant is on the first floor at 271-5 Geumgang-ro, Geumjeong-gu, Busan. It is about 500 m from Exit 3 of Busan National University Station and about a minute from the Busan National University main gate bus stop. Parking is also available.

I could check the menu before entering. Besides sushi, there were other choices, so it seemed to offer options even when dining with someone who does not eat sushi.

What were the late-lunch atmosphere and seating like?

The entrance had an East Asian feel.

Inside, the calm wood tones made it feel more spacious than it looked from outside. When I visited for a late lunch, the crowd had thinned and it was quiet. I thought it would work for an intimate meal or for a group having food and drinks together.

There was also a high chair. The country-of-origin board listed bigeye tuna as sourced from distant-water fisheries, while the other displayed ingredients were listed as domestic.

I also noticed that you could watch the sushi being made.

The menu offered a wide range of sets, courses, sushi selections, table sets, individual sushi, and dishes. There was also a children’s set.

The Set 4 I chose included 18 pieces of sushi, shrimp tempura, and one noodle dish. It was introduced as a set for two to three people, and the noodle choices were udon, momil, ramen, or seafood stir-fried udon. I chose momil.

I ordered “The Better One” option because it was said to include a better sushi selection. The original post recorded the order price as “Set 4 The Better One 71.0.”

At the time of my visit, there was also a notice that two shrimp sushi pieces were offered for a Naver receipt-review event.

What came with the meal, and what was the sushi like?

After ordering, soft tofu, cabbage salad, pickled radish, pickled ginger, and clear soup arrived. The soft tofu came with a nutty, lightly tangy sesame dressing. The cabbage salad was also nice to have before the meal.

The 18 sushi pieces included flounder, salmon, tuna, soy-marinated shrimp, abalone, beef, and eel. I could alternate among many varieties, and they all suited my taste.

How were the shrimp tempura and momil?

There was more shrimp tempura than I expected. It was freshly fried and savory, with a thin coating that was crisp outside and moist within. The tangy sauce served with it also went well.

I considered the seafood stir-fried udon but chose refreshing momil instead. Mixing wasabi into the cold broth and eating it with the noodles paired well with the sushi.

How much did we eat, and which sushi stood out?

There was only a small amount of wasabi inside the sushi. I added a little more wasabi and brushed on a bit of soy sauce. The raw fish had a flavor that tasted sweet to me.

The onion on top of the beef sushi gave it a clean finish. I did not notice any unpleasant smell from the eel, and the seasoning and rice worked well together.

For me, the sushi was neither large nor small, and the balance of rice and toppings was good.

We each ate nine pieces of sushi without feeling overwhelmed by richness. The umami of the garlic-butter shrimp sushi stood out in particular.

Starting with salad and continuing through the sushi, momil, and shrimp tempura, I was full and finished everything. Considering the selection and flavors I tried, the price felt reasonable to me. I would like to return for a family meal or a date.
