Makchang and gopchang-fat fried rice in Geomdan, Incheon: Hwang Gop

Hwang Gop Geomdan New Town Branch is a gopchang (beef small intestine), makchang (beef stomach lining) and daechang (large intestine) grill house on Ieum 1-ro in a residential pocket of Geomdan, Incheon. The mixed platter came with an extra serving of makchang and one of samgyeop-yangji (pork belly and beef brisket), finished with rice fried in gopchang fat, while domestic yukhoe (beef tartare) and mukbap (cold acorn jelly soup) arrived free and the self-serve bar offered green onion kimchi and aged kimchi to cut the richness. With the kids happily eating the samgyeop-yangji, Hwang Gop Geomdan New Town Branch works easily as a family dinner.

Ruwon City shabu-shabu with a single mild broth for kids: Shabuway

Shabuway Ruwon City Cheongna Branch is a shabu-shabu salad-bar restaurant on the 2nd floor of Ruwon Top Plaza in Ruwon City, Cheongna, Seohae, Incheon. On an autumn family visit, the writer picked just one non-spicy broth for the children, refilled the three meats — beef and two pork cuts — several times, and finished the meal with kalguksu noodles and porridge. With wide spacing between tables and 2 hours of free parking, Shabuway Ruwon City Cheongna Branch suits family meals and larger group gatherings.
