Less-sweet mugwort latte at a City Hall Station café: Center Coffee

I was around Gwanghwamun and wanted something sweet, so I stopped by Center Coffee Gwanghwamun~ I picked out a mugwort latte, a Greek yogurt bowl, and a fresh lemon pound cake! It's in a decent spot to reach from City Hall Station too, so if you're looking for a City Hall Station café dessert, this might be worth keeping in mind~

What desserts does Center Coffee Gwanghwamun have?

The showcase at Center Coffee Gwanghwamun had desserts like Earl Grey lemon tart and mugwort injeolmi (sweet rice cake) pound cake. Fittingly for a City Hall Station café dessert spot, the lineup felt upscale and distinctive~

Mugwort latte: the mugwort powder settles at the bottom

I tried the mugwort latte first~ It wasn't as sweet as I expected, so I liked that a lot! Along with the distinct mugwort aroma, there was a really deep, savory-nutty taste. That characteristic toasty, nutty flavor of mugwort came through well, and it was exactly my type haha

It's exactly the kind of menu item that hits the 'grandma palate' spot haha. At first I drank it smoothly, but later I looked at the cup and quite a lot of mugwort powder had settled at the bottom?! Seems like they put in a good amount of mugwort powder~ So it might be worth giving it a good stir before drinking.

Fresh lemon pound cake: dense and moist

Next I tried the fresh lemon pound cake! There was lemon zest on top of the lemon glaze, which gave it an even more lemony feel~

When I actually ate it, it felt fairly dense. But it also had a moist texture, which I liked~ Even inside, there was a subtle, fresh lemon aroma!

And the fresh lemon pound cake also wasn't very sweet, which I liked! The dense, moist quality typical of pound cake, plus the freshness of lemon, made it perfect to eat without coffee?! If you like refreshing desserts, this is exactly the menu item for you haha

What's in the Greek yogurt bowl, the best of the three

And the one I enjoyed most was the Greek yogurt bowl! It was a much richer, more substantial combination than I expected!

On top of the thick Greek yogurt, there's granola and cranberries, plus quite a variety of fruit — pineapple, banana, and even Shine Muscat grapes.

I especially liked that the fruit itself was sweet~ Even without adding much honey, the sweetness of the fruit alone was plenty tasty! Of course there was honey underneath the Greek yogurt, but it wasn't a huge amount~ So instead of being overly sweet, the flavors of yogurt, fruit, and granola each came through clearly.

The granola added a crunchy, nutty texture, and eating it together with the thick Greek yogurt and sweet fruit made the whole bowl feel quite filling~ It felt less like a light yogurt dessert and more like a whole meal packed with ingredients!

Overall, the items I tried this time weren't overly sweet, and the flavor of the ingredients really came through~ The mugwort latte with its appealing nuttiness, the refreshing and moist fresh lemon pound cake, and the Greek yogurt bowl loaded with fruit and granola — each of the three had its own distinct charm haha

The vibe at Center Coffee Gwanghwamun feels a bit like this~ It's good for working on a laptop and also good for coming with several people to talk! In particular, this spot has outlet seats, so there were a lot of people with laptops

If you're near Gwanghwamun or City Hall Station and looking for a dessert that's not too sweet, checking out Center Coffee Gwanghwamun as a City Hall Station café dessert option seems like a good idea. Of the three, the Greek yogurt bowl was the most satisfying for me, and I'd also recommend the mugwort latte if you like mugwort.
