Guwol-dong aged wagyu BBQ: tender cuts even with braces, Sip Sam Dae

Work has been so busy lately that my energy was totally drained... and when that happens you have to go straight to the meat, right??? So I went to restore my strength at Sip Sam Dae (십삼대), a beef restaurant in Guwol-dong, and had the premium wagyu set!

Sip Sam Dae is a beef restaurant near Gil Hospital in Guwol-dong, Incheon, and it's close to Yesulhoegwan Station. It's open for lunch on weekdays but only for dinner on weekends, so please check before you go!

Sip Sam Dae handles aged hanwoo (Korean beef) and premium wagyu, so the meat quality stays high~~ It's run as an Incheon representative restaurant and takes Incheon Eum too! Now that Incheon Eum is ending, that's a bit sad... T_T

Sip Sam Dae has comfortable seating plus private rooms for groups, so it looks perfect for a family gathering or company dinner. Super private feeling!

What's in the Sip Sam Dae Premium Set 450g?

The Premium Set 450g comes with three cuts, rib finger (salchisal), brisket (eopjinsal) and skirt steak (chimasal), served with mushrooms and pineapple, and doenjang rice is included too. I had reserved, so the side dishes were set out right on time. I was thinking of the woodaegalbi (thick-cut beef rib) set for the first time in a while, but since this is an aged wagyu specialist I went for the Premium Set 450g!! With doenjang rice included in the price, it's good value.

After a short wait after ordering, the meat arrived~~ It seems they prepare it after you order rather than slicing it in advance! It came as three cuts: rib finger, brisket and skirt steak. And the mushrooms and pineapple are a bonus! Look at that color, insane, right...?! Premium cuts piled up!!

Side dishes and the special sauce reduced over charcoal

The side dishes at Sip Sam Dae are pretty upscale too~ The salad was so fresh and tasty!! The musam (thin pickled radish wraps) tastes different from store-bought, so I think they make it themselves! Definitely refill-worthy.. They also bring a sauce that's been boiled once along with the meat, and you keep simmering it over the charcoal as you eat. It's absolutely amazing T_T Even the meat feels tastier because of this sauce??

Aged wagyu chuck flap: easy to eat even with braces?

At Sip Sam Dae, the owner grills the meat for you at first, explaining each cut and the best way to eat it! I tried the rib finger first, and the thickness alone looked so delicious... Isn't the color just unreal T_T? Let me eat it right away.

He told me to have the rib finger first with salt and wasabi, then second with the special sauce, and it really just melts in your mouth... I have braces, so even slightly chewy meat is hard for me to eat, but this just melted so softly?? Wow, aged meat is not for nothing! I only learned today that aged wagyu could be this tender and tasty.. And it goes insanely well with the sauce T_T Just ridiculously good!! I had a headache until the day before, and this tasted like healing.

How were the brisket and flank steak?

Now the brisket and skirt steak from the Premium Set! Usually some cuts are chewy and some are tender, right??? Not here, everything melts in your mouth.. so it's hard to pick which was best T_T Since the rib finger was my first bite, maybe that's my favorite..? Anyway, it's all delicious!

Is the Premium Set 450g enough food?

At first I worried the Premium Set 450g wouldn't be enough, but as I ate I got totally full?! Maybe because it's aged wagyu, there was no meaty smell at all and it tasted great from start to finish!! The side potato and pineapple were legendary.. so good you could order extra T_T

When to order doenjang sulbap at Sip Sam Dae

The doenjang rice (soybean paste rice) at Sip Sam Dae doesn't come out from the start; they cook it as soon as you order, and it arrives in about 5 to 10 minutes, so order with that timing in mind!! At a place like this, ordering doenjang rice is a must, so I loved that it's included in the set, and I was thrilled that it had lots of broth T_T Other places make it thick with almost no broth! I love it~~ The portion is generous too, I was about to burst haha

At the end they even gave us the trendy Xiaokeai candy these days, so thoughtful!! Great for freshening your mouth~~ I get now why it's a hot item! I left so full and happy!

Who Sip Sam Dae in Guwol-dong is best for

If you have a family gathering or company dinner in Guwol-dong, Incheon, I recommend the beef restaurant Sip Sam Dae! It's definitely not a rowdy atmosphere, so it seems like a really good place for get-togethers haha
