Today I visited Pyeongando Sikdang Sinchon Branch (평안도식당 신촌점), a sundae-guk (blood sausage soup) place in Sinchon.

Menu at Pyeongando Sikdang Sinchon Branch
The soup (gukbap) menu includes sundae-guk, beef bone rice cake and dumpling soup, beef offal soup, seolleongtang (ox bone soup), yukgaejang (spicy beef soup) and ppyeohaejangguk (pork bone hangover soup). Meal dishes include gamjatang (pork bone stew), sundae cheolpan-bokkeum (stir-fried sundae on a hot plate) and sundae jeongol (sundae hot pot). The wide choice is a plus.
They say the broth is made from Korean pork bones simmered for 20 hours with 21 kinds of natural seasonings. So the sundae-guk is a must-order!

Sundae and suyuk, a perfect match with saeujeot
The sundae on the plate was true to the basics, and the suyuk had a nice balance of fat and lean, so it was tender. It was moist, like it had been boiled for a long time, and eating it with saeujeot (salted shrimp) was a perfect match!
Thinly sliced pyeonyuk
I love pyeonyuk, and the one here was savory and really nice to taste :) It's sliced thin, so it's easy to eat, and chewy yet clean-tasting, so I never got tired of alternating it with the sundae and suyuk.
What I liked about the mixed half plate: you get a variety of flavors instead of just one dish, and when you want to enjoy something alongside your sundae-guk, a half plate is a light way to do it!

The Pyeongando sundae-guk set (₩15,000) comes with sundae and pyeonyuk all on one tray. It's a hearty amount when you want to eat well on your own! If you want it spicy, stir in the minced seasoning halfway through and the finish is perfect :)
