Daeheung burger joint: Chipotle Spicy and P.B.B at Bored & Hungry

Today I'm introducing a handmade burger hotspot I visited, one that's called one of the best burger places in Korea and one of its trendiest brands. It's the burger that even hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg supposedly fell for: Bored & Hungry Mapo! It's close to Gyeongui Line Forest Park, near Exit 3 of Daeheung Station, so it's a perfect weekend date spot.

What are the atmosphere and seating like at Bored & Hungry Mapo?

From the exterior to the interior, Bored & Hungry Mapo has a very hip, authentically American vibe.

There are plenty of tables for 2 to 4 people, and it's decorated stylishly enough that you can even rent the space. The staff greeted us really kindly too, so I was in a good mood the moment we walked in.

How did the Chipotle Spicy and Peanut Bacon P.B.B taste?

The handmade burgers at Bored & Hungry Mapo are big and thick, so they passed the looks test right away. And the patty here is seriously one of the best I've ever had... it's packed with juices inside, while the outside is crisp and the edges are pressed so they almost fry, giving a crunchy "ppajak" texture that's just art. It's the very definition of a hearty, juicy American-style burger!

My Chipotle Spicy has a slightly spicy special sauce that cuts the greasiness a heavy meat patty can have, so I enjoyed it down to the last bite without getting sick of it. My grad-school friend ordered the Peanut Bacon P.B.B, and said the sweet, salty, nutty mix of peanut butter, bacon and cheese was totally on point. They devoured it!

Zero Cola instead of a shake, with refills

Bored & Hungry has lots of unique, famous shakes like the "sesame oil shake" (chamgireum shake), but the day we visited was so hot and we were so thirsty that we were desperate for something fizzy and cold. When I ordered a Zero Cola, they gave us a separate cup of ice so we could pour the drink ourselves, and best of all, refills were available. We loved that!

Are the corn ribs at Bored & Hungry worth ordering?

The addictive corn ribs are a total must-order!!!

I was so curious about the ₩7,400 corn ribs that I ordered them, and they're the hidden star I would have regretted skipping! The corn is cut into pieces, fried, and sprinkled with a salty, addictive seasoning. It's like a classy version of "drug corn" (mayak oksusu, the famously addictive Korean corn snack).

At first it was a little hard to pick the kernels off with a knife, but as I kept eating I got the hang of it, and later I was peeling them off with a swoosh~. The crisp-outside, tender-inside corn goes perfectly with the seasoning, so I highly recommend it.

Verdict: Bored & Hungry Mapo ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A clean, hip space, friendly service, and above all a crisp-outside, juicy-inside patty with a real American feel! It's great as a date stop during a stroll along Gyeongui Line Forest Park, and anyone who loves proper American-style handmade burgers will be satisfied. If you're looking for a good place near Daeheung Station or Sogang University, definitely drop by Bored & Hungry Mapo.
