Stroller-friendly crab restaurant at Daepo Port, Sokcho: Palpal

In short

Palpal Hoesenta Sokcho Daepo Port Market Branch is a sea-view seafood restaurant right in front of Daepo Port Fish Market in Sokcho, Gangwon. Visiting with a baby, the writer paid 10,000 won extra to swap the raw fish in the two-person snow crab C set for a second snow crab, and two people spent about an hour and a half working through the side dishes, crab tomalley fried rice and a free red crab ramen from a Naver reservation. The back entrance has no stairs and baby chairs are ready, so Palpal Hoesenta works well for a meal out with a stroller.

I went to Sokcho with my baby this time and had snow crab there. It's right in front of Daepo Port, so the view is amazing, and the crab meat was so packed full that it made for a great Sokcho crab restaurant review.

Where is Palpal Hoesenta at Daepo Port Fish Market?

The place I visited is Palpal Hoesenta Sokcho Daepo Port Market Branch, right in front of Daepo Port. The address is 59 Daepohanghuimang-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do, S Building, 1st floor, units 13, 14, 15. Seafood restaurants circle Daepo Port, and there are so many it's actually hard to pick one, haha.

Inside Palpal Hoesenta and the sea view

The restaurant is right in front of Daepo Port, so they keep the full glass windows open and you can eat while looking straight out at the sea. Eating with a cool breeze and the ocean in front of you was so nice. Taking a bite of sashimi while looking at the sea — it kind of feels like you're eating the sea itself?

There were tons of fresh, live options too — snow crab, red crab, flounder, abalone, and more. At first I went in through the front door and there were stairs. I had a stroller with me, but going in through the back has no stairs at all!

We ordered the crab C set for two! It comes with one premium snow crab and sliced raw fish, but we paid an extra ₩10,000 to swap the raw fish for a second snow crab. Besides snow crab, you can also go with a red crab set, king crab set, raw fish set, or individual seafood items.

Abalone, Dokdo shrimp, and other seafood sides

Side dishes with the two-person snow crab C set

When you order a crab set, before the main crab arrives you get sides (skidashi) like squid sashimi, abalone, sea squirt, Dokdo shrimp, clam soup, and mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) as standard, plus fried shrimp, corn cheese, and basic banchan. Even before the crab came, we filled up on a huge, varied spread of sashimi, haha.

The mulhoe was loaded with sashimi, and the abalone, sea squirt, and squid sashimi were all fresh, so we got to try a wide range of fresh seafood. The abalone was really chewy, and the shrimp came out so fresh it was practically still moving.

How full was the snow crab meat in September?

A plate of prepared snow crab

About 30 minutes after ordering, the crab arrived. The owner cut it up with scissors and picked out all the meat so it's easy to eat. When I visited in September, the crab meat was super plump and the yield was great!

Meat-packed snow crab and its tomalley

You might wonder what's up with the crab tomalley in the shell — dipping the meat right into it, it's already delicious on its own but it gets even more savory and doubles the flavor. It's genuinely so good.

They cut it in a way that leaves the meat easy to pop out, so you just snap it and it comes right off. The meat was so packed that one bite filled my mouth completely with crab. The legs, claws, and body were all equally full of meat, so we filled up on crab meat alone.

Snow crab meat dipped in tomalley sauce

Dipping it into the tomalley sauce in the shell is genuinely delicious. My husband and I basically sang about how good it was while eating.

Fried rice mixed in the crab shell

We had one crab shell's worth of rice mixed in as well. They mix it up and plate it beautifully for you, and it was nutty, savory, and just everything.

Finishing with the free red crab ramen from Naver reservation

We finished with red crab ramen. If you book through Naver Reservation and visit, red crab ramen is included for free. With red crab in it, the broth is refreshing and spicy and cleans your palate perfectly. It's not just plain ramen — with bean sprouts, green onion, and red crab in it, the refreshing flavor is so good.

Is Palpal Hoesenta okay with a baby and a stroller?

If you're looking for a Sokcho crab restaurant, I recommend Palpal Hoesenta Sokcho Daepo Port Market Branch :) You can feel like you're eating outdoors looking at the sea, and try a wide range of fresh seafood along with meat-packed crab, so I'd definitely go back.

Between the sides, the fried rice, and the red crab ramen, the two of us ate so much off the 2-person set. When we finally left, we realized an hour and a half had passed, haha. If you're looking for a place in Sokcho to fill up on crab and seafood, you have to check this place out!

Places like this are usually hard to visit with a baby, but they have baby chairs, the restaurant is fairly spacious, and the owners were kind, so it was a great place to go with a baby too!
