Daepo Port fish market family dinner, snow crab set: Palpal Hoesenta

Last weekend I went to Sokcho with my family 🥰 The weather wasn't too hot and had a nice cool breeze, so it was a perfect day to walk around by the sea 🫶🏻 And since we came all the way to Sokcho, of course seafood was a must. This time we visited Palpal Hoesenta Sokcho Daepo Port Market Branch at Daepo Port and had a snow crab set.

Where is Palpal Hoesenta at Daepo Port Fish Market, and where do you park?

Palpal Hoesenta Sokcho Daepo Port Market Branch is located at 59 Daepohuimang-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do, 1st floor, S building, units 13, 14, 15, Daepo Port Fish Market. It's open daily from 11:00 to 22:00, and parking is free for 90 minutes. You can park at Daepo 2nd Public Parking Lot and register for free parking!

Since it's located inside Daepo Port Fish Market, you could feel that distinctive seaside market atmosphere from the surroundings. There were fish markets and sashimi restaurants lined up all around, so it was fun to look around, and being near the sea made it feel like a real trip :)

We visited with family on the weekend, and the inside of the restaurant was neatly arranged with a comfortable atmosphere for eating 🥰 Best of all, with the cool weather, the view of Daepo Port through the window really added to that traveling feeling :)

The basic side dishes came out more generously than I expected 👍🏻 Kimchi, shrimp, spicy octopus salad and various other side dishes came together, so it was fun trying a bit of each.

First we tried the main dish, the snow crab! 🥹 It came already prepared for easy eating, so it was easy to pick out the meat, and great for eating slowly while chatting with family. There's really something fun about pulling the meat straight out of the crab legs 😆

The meat was packed full, so it felt even more generous than expected. The meat was also arranged in easy-to-eat pieces, so it was fun pulling out one leg at a time.

After finishing the crab, they made fried rice right in the crab shell 😍 The owner personally added rice into the shell and fried it, and the way the tomalley mixed with the rice was really delicious 👍🏻👍🏻

How were the live-fish sashimi, mulhoe and shellfish?

And of course the sashimi that came along couldn't be skipped. Eating a piece of sashimi in between bites of crab kept things varied, so I kept reaching for more haha

The mulhoe was cold and so delicious!

On top of that, squid, sea squirt, abalone, and spot shrimp all came together too, so it was fun trying each one 🫶🏻

The abalone, squid, and spot shrimp in particular were really delicious 👍🏻

It was fun picking one thing at a time, and I liked being able to taste a wide variety of fresh seafood.

At the very end, they brought out seafood ramen and spicy fish stew too 🙊 We were already stuffed from the crab, sashimi, seafood, and crab fried rice, but with the ramen and stew arriving too, I felt like I was going to burst haha Still, having that spicy, warm broth was the perfect way to end the meal 👍🏻

And of course, spicy fish stew calls for soju 🤣 A spoonful of that spicy, warm stew broth with a shot of soju was the perfect finish to the meal :) My stomach already felt like it was about to burst, but this combo was one I just couldn't give up haha

Is Palpal Hoesenta worth it for a weekend family dinner?

We visited with family on the weekend, and with the cool weather it was the perfect day to enjoy a trip to Sokcho 🥰 What I liked was being able to enjoy not just crab, but sashimi, mulhoe, various seafood, fried food, clam soup, crab fried rice, and spicy fish stew all in one visit.

If you're looking for a place to have a hearty meal with family at Daepo Port, this is a place worth trying at least once :) Between watching the ocean and eating delicious crab and seafood, it made for a great way to wrap up a weekend family outing.
