In short

What is Halls Gimbap Main Branch near Gyodae Station?
Halls Gimbap Main Branch (홀스김밥본점) is a gimbap shop near Exit 1 of Gyodae Station, and it has a dakgangjeong set for the times when one roll of gimbap (seaweed rice roll) just isn't enough. Great for a busy lunch or dinner 🙌 It's easy to get to, and I went to try this simple but hearty solo meal spot near Gyodae Station 😃

Seating and atmosphere at Halls Gimbap Main Branch
There are outdoor seats outside the shop too, so on a cool, nice day like these you can enjoy your food outside to the fullest ✨ It was so packed inside that I couldn't take photos, but there's a bar table for eating alone and tables for groups, so it's a go-to solo spot near Gyodae Station even in the busy lunch hour 😋

I heard it used to run under a different name, "O0 Gimbap", and only the shop name changed. The owner, the gimbap ladies, the counter staff, the dakgangjeong staff, the seasoning, the taste, the cooking tools and the freshness are all exactly the same ❗️

What's on the menu at Halls Gimbap Main Branch?
The menu starts with the Halls gimbap, filled with egg and fish cake, then goes on to fusion combinations like wasabi, Spam, double cheese egg, konjac minari (water dropwort), Jindo scallion tuna and extra cheese, which felt fresh and different. I always have ramen with my gimbap, and when you're at the office or out and can't pour hot water on ramen, there honestly aren't many options besides gimbap, right? There are also set combos you can eat with dakgangjeong 👏

One roll has about 10 pieces including the end pieces. Can't decide between this and that? No worries! You can get half-and-half rolls too, so it's great value. It's a solo-meal paradise near Gyodae Station where you can try a variety on your own.

Does Halls Gimbap serve broth and cup ramen?
Katsuobushi (bonito flake) broth comes by default (the broth can't be taken out), and cup ramen is cheap too at ₩2,000 for small and ₩2,500 for large. A no-pressure spot for a solo meal near Gyodae Station 🍜

My takeout order: 3 gimbap rolls for ₩24,500
I took out the Halls gimbap + dakgangjeong set, the konjac minari gimbap and the double cheese egg gimbap, and it came to ₩24,500. I came before mealtime so I got it to go, and the takeout containers were neat too 🙌
- Halls gimbap + dakgangjeong set
- Konjac minari gimbap
- Double cheese egg gimbap
- Total ₩24,500

How was the Halls gimbap + dakgangjeong set?
The set pairs the signature Halls gimbap with dakgangjeong, and it's neat yet hearty, which seems perfect for an office lunch, takeout or a snack 👍

The rice in the Halls gimbap isn't thick, so it sits much easier in the stomach, and with lots of pickled radish, carrot and cucumber, it left me pleasantly full and fresh. The egg and fish cake are thinly fried rather than thick, layered in several sheets, so it wasn't clunky and was soft 🐣

I had travel time ahead and was going to just get gimbap, but it felt like something was missing, so I ordered one as a set to go. If I'd only brought gimbap, I think I'd have regretted it. The dakgangjeong coating was really crunchy and so good. I'd believe it if you told me this gimbap shop near Gyodae Station was a famous dakgangjeong place 😃

The sliced chili that came with it is Cheongyang chili. The gimbap and dakgangjeong themselves aren't spicy, so if you like heat, it's a real treat 🔥

Does the konjac minari gimbap go well with mustard sauce?
The second roll, the konjac minari gimbap, has cabbage, fresh minari, konjac and mushrooms, and maybe because the seasoning is soy-sauce based, it wasn't bland at all. It's healthier than any other gimbap, so it was a real treat. The ingredients are rare, like a fancy gimbap, which I found fascinating 😗

I dipped it in the mustard sauce that came with it, and the minari got lightly soaked and the flavor was great 😀

Before picking it up, I wondered if it was two rolls, the end piece is that huge,, haha

What does the double cheese egg gimbap taste like?
The double cheese egg gimbap was the most popular that day! The egg takes up almost half of the roll, and the salty, soft cheese balances the plain egg, while the carrot and crunchy pickled radish add a crisp texture 🥕
Is Halls Gimbap a good solo-meal gimbap shop near Gyodae Station?
Halls Gimbap Main Branch has a wide menu to choose from and is an easy, no-pressure gimbap spot for eating alone near Gyodae Station. If it were near my office, I'd want to go every day. I recommend it to anyone looking for a good solo meal near Gyodae ❗️
