Outside and inside Sushi Doku The Songdo, on the 2nd floor of Onesta
Sushi Doku The Songdo is a sushi restaurant with a nonstop waitlist, even on weekends. Let me show you the outside and inside first.

Sushi Doku The Songdo sits on the 2nd floor of Onesta, connected to the Songhyeon-a building. I've been several times, and it crossed my mind, so I decided to go again.

Sushi Doku is a place you can trust. It's delicious enough to rank number 1 on Naver search among sushi restaurants nationwide.
Weekend waitlist at Sushi Doku The Songdo: how long even right after opening?
Even arriving around 11:10 on a weekend, right after opening, I got waitlist number 12 and waited 1 hour. On weekends, I'd recommend arriving before 11:00 if you can.

I came right when it opened on the weekend and still had to join the waitlist, which made me sad. Really, I'd recommend getting there before 11:00.

When you enter your waitlist number, you get a friendly KakaoTalk message like this. But even though I arrived at about 11:10, I was number 12 and waited an hour.

Atmosphere and seating inside Sushi Doku The Songdo
The inside is dark with moody lighting, so it looked good for a blind date or a date. It was already full, so I couldn't take proper photos, but there are plenty of seats, and the staff were all kind, especially when taking our order.

The chopsticks and sushi brush came neatly packed in hygienic pouches, which I liked. The water glass was pretty and had a nice mood too.

Surprisingly, a lot of people ordered the menus with only salmon or only flounder.
What's in the premium sushi set for 2 (₩51,800)?
What I ordered at Sushi Doku The Songdo was the premium sushi for 2 at ₩51,800. The sushi here is so good that I'll introduce what I ordered one by one.

Premium sushi for 2, ₩51,800

The classy premium sushi, ₩25,900: flounder + sea bream + salmon + squid + sweet shrimp + lean tuna (akami) + red shrimp + red snow crab meat + eel + ankimo (monkfish liver), all things I love.

I also liked that you can choose a wasabi option when ordering extra, so you can order to your taste.

Sides: salad, tempura, udon and steamed egg
The premium sushi set at Sushi Doku The Songdo comes with a salad, shrimp tempura and karaage (Japanese fried chicken), udon (thick wheat noodles) and steamed egg (chawanmushi-style). A salad is a thoughtful touch, and eating it first helps guard against a blood sugar spike. They didn't drown it in dressing, just the right amount, so I enjoyed it.

The fried items are shrimp tempura and karaage. The shrimp tempura is really big and the karaage pieces are chunky too, so I got full. It looks like a small portion, but it's really big and plentiful.

The udon that came with it had a rich broth and bouncy noodles, great for slurping. It's only a side, but it was so good I'd want to order it separately.

It's not an exaggeration to say you could come just for this steamed egg. It's so soft and warm that I'd want to eat it every day.

It's silky like pudding, with shrimp and ginkgo nuts inside, a perfect side to slurp down before the sushi.

My favorites: eel sushi and ankimo
From the premium sushi set at Sushi Doku The Songdo, my personal favorites were the eel sushi and the ankimo. Whenever I come, they're the best-tasting ones for me.
Maybe because they use good fish, the color was really different. At cheaper sushi places the fish is often thin and the rice plentiful, which I didn't like, but not here..!!

If you use the brush to spread the soy sauce evenly, it tastes even better. Whoever thought of that was really clever.

The salmon was also so, so good, and I liked that they gave a long, thick piece. It just melts the moment it's in your mouth.

The shrimp tempura is big too, nice as a palate cleanser in between.

Mouthwash, floss and a coffee coupon on the way out
On the way out, Sushi Doku The Songdo gave us mouthwash and floss, plus a Zenzen coffee coupon, which I liked. It's kind and delicious, and this is my Nth visit, so please go try it.
