Bored & Hungry Mapo is on Gwangseong-ro 6-gil in Sinsu-dong, Mapo, within walking distance of Daeheung Station. It is on the first floor so it's easy to walk in, and the yellow sign stands out.

The exterior already looks super hip, which made me curious about the inside!

Interior vibe and why it's good for eating alone

Inside Bored & Hungry Mapo you get graffiti walls, a checkerboard floor and yellow chairs, a very hip, street-style feel.

Merch like monkey logo T-shirts and tote bags hangs on display, and you pour your own drinks at the Pepsi self-bar.

There are seats good for sitting alone, and it's comfortable for a date too. It works as a solo meal or as a Sinchon burger date.

It's fine for groups too, and on a weekday evening it wasn't crowded, so I sat down comfortably. The tables are spaced generously, so sitting alone and eating slowly felt no pressure.

Above all, the owner looked after me kindly, so going alone never felt awkward.

And one thing I really loved: they even have phone stands... It's honestly so optimized for solo dining~

What I ordered alone: Classic Cheese Double and Chilly Cheese Sticks

I visited by myself. The Classic Cheese Double is a burger with two smash patties topped with cheese, and with two patties it's really filling!

How does the ₩12,900 Classic Cheese Double taste?

The Bored & Hungry Classic Cheese Double has patty edges grilled crispy and melted cheese, and I loved its signature rich, nutty flavor.

The patties are thin, but with two of them there's a good chew, and the sauce is bold, so it really felt like a classic American burger.

Personally, I think one meat patty would have been enough! The beef flavor is that strong! There are several burgers on the menu, so I wanted to try others next time.

How do the ₩3,900 Chilly Cheese Sticks taste?

The Chilly Cheese Sticks are crispy outside with cheese that stretches inside, and dipped in ranch sauce they were salty and nutty.

They're dusted with spicy seasoning, so they weren't greasy and I kept reaching for more.

How far does this cheese stretch?! A burger with just cheese sticks on the side was plenty filling as a solo meal.

Above all, the owner looked after me kindly, so even eating alone I left feeling comfortable.
