Yeongjongdo dessert café: fresh salt bread after a 10-minute wait, 5PM
In short
5PM sunset hour (5PM 선셋아워) is a salt bread and dessert café on the ground floor of the KCC Switzen apartment shopping complex in Yeongjong Haneul City, Incheon. The plain salt bread was sold out, so the writer waited 10 minutes while eating an egg tart, a canelé and coffee, and the fresh-baked salt bread came out with a crisp bottom, no greasiness and a hollow, buttery center. 5PM sunset hour sells salt bread as fast as it bakes it and is worth a stop for anyone looking for a dessert café in Yeongjongdo.

A great Yeongjongdo café: 5pm sunset hour
5PM sunset hour hours and parking
5PM sunset hour is open daily 07:00-19:00 (until 18:00 on Mondays), with last order at 18:00 (17:00 on Mondays). There's Wi-Fi, and you can park there too.

I was visiting Yeongjongdo and went to 5pm sunset hour, said to be a top salt bread (soft buttery roll) spot! The salt bread photos looked so delicious and the reviews were good, so I really wanted to go. Now that the Cheongna Hanuel Bridge has opened, getting from Cheongna to Yeongjongdo is much easier too.
Sunset hour is in an apartment shopping building, so you can park in the complex's shop garage or the surface lot. The barrier just opened for me, but they say if it doesn't, tell them you're visiting the café.

5PM sunset hour atmosphere and seating
5PM sunset hour isn't big, but its cozy, small-scale vibe is so pretty for a salt bread café! The orange-lit sign even feels like watching a sunset.

Sunset hour opens at 7, but the bread comes out in batches from 9. It seems they bake more salt bread in the afternoon too. And there's canelé you can only get on weekends!

Indoors there are about two tables,

and there's plenty of outdoor seating. On a cool, nice day like these, eating outside is even better! Since the indoor space is small, most people sat outside soaking up the warm sun.

Have a look at the stylish decor here and there too~

5PM sunset hour salt bread types and desserts
Now the most important part: browsing the bread! So many desserts, I'm so happy~

The salt bread menu has plain, ice cream, garlic butter, ham cheese, Dubai and pizza salt bread, but lots were already gone. When we arrived even the plain one was out, and when I asked, they said it would be ready in 10 minutes, so we ordered and decided to wait, haha. Phew, so lucky, so relieved!

There are plenty of other baked goods too: scones, canelé, egg tarts, financiers, butter rice cake and more. There are also separate salt bread sandwiches, plus Taiwanese sandwiches and doughnuts~~ (The financier looked really good too, but I didn't get to try it, so sad)

5PM sunset hour drink menu and prices
The coffee menu at 5PM sunset hour is varied: espresso, cold brew and hand drip. Here's the drink menu.

Almost everyone gets salt bread, so the discounted set menu seems like a good deal. And takeout drinks get 10% off! Here's what we ordered!
- Americano ₩3,800
- Café latte ₩4,300
- Salt bread x2 ₩3,000 each
- Egg tart ₩3,500
- Financier ₩3,000

Egg tart and canelé while waiting for the salt bread
Other desserts first, before the salt bread came out!

Delicious-looking egg tart and canelé! The canelé was crisp outside and moist inside, soft and tasty,

but above all, the egg tart had a flaky pastry crust, so it was crunchy and really good.

How does the fresh-baked 5PM sunset hour salt bread taste?
While we waited with coffee, egg tart and canelé, the salt bread came out, freshly baked and piping hot!

The bottom was crisp but baked so it wasn't too greasy, and the butter cave (the hollow buttery interior) was perfect! Moist and mild inside. It really is a salt bread spot: even while we were eating, tons of people kept coming to buy it. One salt bread per person is the default!
They bake a batch, it sells out quickly, they bake again, haha. I watched this endless loop in action.
What to try next time
I came because I heard there's a great salt bread spot in Yeongjongdo, and the snack, even the coffee, was really good. The ice cream at 5PM sunset hour is Sangha Farm ice cream, so an ice cream latte and ice cream salt bread sound delicious too. Next time I'll try the ice cream menu. If you're looking for a dessert café in Yeongjongdo, I recommend 5pm sunset hour!
