Cheonan soup restaurant for dakgaejang and dumplings: Yukdaejang

For some reason, whenever I come back from camping I get insanely hungry even before I make it home, ㅠ.ㅠ This time too, on the way back from camping I was so hungry that I decided to eat somewhere nearby before even going home!

A new dakgaejang spot in Baekseok-dong

While looking for somewhere to go, I found a newly opened dakgaejang (chicken hot pot soup) place near my house — that's Yukdaejang Cheonan Baekseok Branch :) It's a great spot to stop by when looking for a meal around Baekseok-dong! I actually live in Baekseok-dong myself, so the location was perfect for me.

Maybe because it's new, the interior was really spacious and clean! The AC was blasting too, which I loved since I run hot 👍🏻

Picking dakgaejang, seolleongtang, and dumplings after camping

I really wanted to order everything since I was so hungry, but there's no way I could eat it all, so I picked carefully ㅠㅠ We ordered dakgaejang, seolleongtang, and juicy dumplings. Even though we'd had ramyeon for breakfast at the campsite, on the way home I was craving warm soup and rice again :) I guess the ending of any trip or camping run really does need a solid meal!

Three kinds of basic side dishes came out, and the radish kimchi was my favorite!! It's exactly the kind of kimchi that pairs with soup dishes — even better with the seolleongtang :)

Dakgaejang loaded with glass noodles and mild seolleongtang

First up, the dakgaejang I tried! When you hear yukgaejang, you usually think of a spicy beef broth, but dakgaejang uses chicken instead, so it has its own charm 👍🏻 Pouring the hot broth over rice warmed me right up, and it really filled the hunger left over from camping.

It was also loaded with glass noodles, which I love, so I enjoyed it even more haha. Soups and stews like this really can't go wrong when you're hungry.

And the seolleongtang my husband picked. If dakgaejang is the spicy, rich broth option, seolleongtang is the milder, cleaner choice — so I kept stealing his ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ If you like soup dishes, ordering both to share is a great combo. If you're craving something spicy, go dakgaejang; if you want something mild and warm, go seolleongtang :)

Juicy dumplings that rounded out the soup meal

Another dish I really enjoyed was the juicy dumplings. Ordering just two soup dishes felt a bit lacking, so we added dumplings too, and having a side like this really does make the meal feel more complete :) A spoonful of hot broth followed by a dumpling was a great combo, and after being so hungry, the dumplings on top left us completely stuffed.

On days after camping or on weekends, cooking a bunch of dishes at home feels like way too much effort, so I much prefer having a comfortable meal at a restaurant that serves good food like this :) On the way back from camping, there's packing to sort out at home and my energy is drained from sleeping outdoors, so cooking feels like a hassle — being able to grab a warm soup meal near home before heading in was so convenient! If you're looking for a hearty meal around Baekseok-dong, Cheonan, this place is worth a stop 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

The self-bar has extra side dishes neatly laid out, and there are baby chairs too, so it's great for families visiting. There's also a wide range of menu options, so it'd be good for group gatherings where everyone can pick what they want. I think I'll come back again whenever I'm craving warm soup food or get hungry on the way home from camping :)
