Seongsu bakery café with less-sweet caramel macchiato: LOOOP Bakery
In short
LOOOP Bakery (LOOOP 루프) is a three-story bakery café on Yeonmujang 5-gil in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, known for its ribbon-wrapped gift-box exterior and a free studio on the third floor. On a visit with a friend, the order was a LOOOP latte, a caramel macchiato and a pink pastry muffin, and the LOOOP Bakery caramel macchiato stood out for being not too sweet and well balanced. Let me introduce LOOOP (루프), a Seongsu bakery café with all kinds of bread, desserts and coffee, plus a free studio space. Here's my review of the coffee, bakery and space from this visit.

Why I visited LOOOP in Seongsu
LOOOP is a three-floor bakery café on Yeonmujang 5-gil in Seongsu. I was walking around the streets shopping and wanted a pleasant place to rest with coffee and baked goods. So I headed to LOOOP, the Seongsu bakery café with the eye-catching giant ribbon decoration.
With its roomy three floors, a studio you can use for free, and a bakery counter to pick from, it was a great place to enjoy dessert and take photos.
What are LOOOP's exterior and interior like?

Ribbons wrap the white exterior wall both vertically and horizontally, so the whole building looks like a giant gift box. It's such a witty facade that you turn your head for a second look even while strolling the Seongsu alleys.

Inside, the mood carries on in white and calm gray tones.

Seating types and a tip for grabbing a spot
LOOOP has all kinds of seating, from long tables to small round tables and benches along the wall. Bright light streams through the huge picture windows, and the Seongsu street view outside looked even more atmospheric.

Since the space continues up to the 3rd floor, I'd recommend looking around before you order and securing a seat you like.

Outside, tables sit under an awning, which was nice for enjoying the cool fresh air.

Free studio on the 3rd floor
What stood out to me most was the free studio on the 3rd floor. It felt like stumbling onto an unexpected photo studio, a little extra fun on top of the café.
What bread does LOOOP Bakery have in Seongsu?

If you're looking for a bakery café in Seongsu, you're probably curious what bread they have.

LOOOP has a wide selection, from salt bread (a buttery roll with sea salt) and croissants to egg tarts, canelés, cookies and cakes topped with fruit.

Some items catch the eye with their shape alone, like the ribbon croissant and the New York bear roll,

and there are also vegan muffins, pound cakes and cookies, so it's worth a look if you want a Seongsu café with a wide range of bakery items. The bread reportedly comes out at 12 noon, so keep that in mind!
How did the LOOOP latte and caramel macchiato taste?

This time at LOOOP I chose the LOOOP latte, a caramel macchiato, and a pastry-type dessert.

The LOOOP latte comes in the round cup only with added cream
The LOOOP latte had cream piled up in a lovely mound over a round cup, a happy first impression. The milk tasted especially rich and nutty, and the espresso shot blended in smoothly. One note: you only get the round cup if you add cream; without cream it comes in a regular cup, so keep that in mind when ordering.

A caramel macchiato that isn't sweet
My friend ordered the caramel macchiato, which came in a tall glass with layers of milk and coffee and caramel sauce over fluffy foam. I normally avoid caramel macchiatos because they're too sweet and heavy for me, but this one wasn't very sweet and the balance felt refined. It was another reminder that this Seongsu LOOOP café is a place with good coffee.

Pink pastry muffin
I paired my coffee with a pastry muffin, and the pink pastry layers made it lovely to look at. Cream between the layered baked pastry gave it a great texture, and it went well with coffee.
Why I recommend LOOOP as a Seongsu bakery café

With its witty exterior, pleasant interior, wide range of bread and a free studio, LOOOP made even one cup of coffee fun, since you get to explore the space too. If you're looking for a café with good bakery in Seongsu, I think it's a nice place to pick a bread you like, take a break, and make memories with the people you're with.
