It had been quite a while since my black-removal dye, so for a change of mood I wanted a bright color for summer and went to the newly opened Juno Hair Gwacheonchungsa Station :) From a detailed consultation with my designer to careful treatment and a cool ash brown that suits my personal color, here's the whole story of my makeover!

A café-like interior, with welcome tea while you wait

I booked ahead on Naver and visited, and while I waited briefly as the staff directed, they thoughtfully brought me welcome tea :)

The inside is a modern mix of wood tones and light gray, so it felt calm, cozy and classy. It's a great place to get your hair done and refresh your mood.

The space is roomy and the seats are well spaced, so it felt relaxed and I could be looked after more privately.

The big open windows show a green city view, which gives it a café-like atmosphere. So healing!

Dark hair after black dye removal: can it go ash brown without bleach?

Even with dark hair after a black-removal dye, at Juno Hair Gwacheonchungsa Station I got ash brown without bleach, dyeing with shade 9 after a consultation and test. Below is the BEFORE photo, taken a few days before the dye on a trip to Haenggung-dong 🥀

I'd done the black-removal dye half a year earlier, so my roots urgently needed touching up and my hair was an overall dark brown. I wanted a bright ash brown for summer, so I showed my designer a photo of the color I wanted. She carefully checked my hair condition and current color, then gave me a really detailed consultation on whether the prettiest shade for my personal color was possible!

Since my existing hair color is quite dark, there were limits, so she thought it through with me: how to reach the brightness I wanted while keeping damage to a minimum. Rather than dyeing right away, she did a careful test first, and we went with shade 9, which would turn out best from my current hair condition :)

How does a summer ash brown dye at Juno Hair work?

The ash brown dye at Juno Hair Gwacheonchungsa Station went in this order: scalp protection spray → dye application → color check after 20 minutes → full reapplication of the second formula → 10-15 minutes of air drying. They moved me to the shared table so I could be comfortable.

A drink menu and simple cookies were offered too, so it was nice to relax with a coffee during treatment :) First she sprayed plenty of scalp protection spray, then applied the dye carefully. After about 20 minutes she checked the color, then applied the second formula all over once more and let it air dry for 10-15 minutes. She took extra care to avoid dark roots or patchiness and checked several times!

After plenty of color checking came the shampoo. To prevent damage after dyeing, they treated my hair with a premium salon treatment sold in the shop, so my hair felt soft and I felt no damage at all :)

The ash brown finished with shade 9 at Juno Hair Gwacheonchungsa Station came out with no patchiness, exactly the cool color I wanted. The ash brown dye is finally done 🤎 The cool ash-toned brown is so luminous and pretty.

I also took photos in my dressing room at home, my selfie zone :) Under fluorescent light it's this subtle, effortlessly nice ash brown, and in natural light it's a bright ash, which is just right.
