Boulangerie Tan, Hyundai Department Store KINTEX uses organic flour and French flour, and makes traditional French-style bread with no artificial additives such as improvers, emulsifiers, preservatives or coloring. Today I visited this bakery, which is considered one of the best spots near Kintekseu Station.

How does Boulangerie Tan make its bread?

They say the bread is made with natural sourdough starter and aged cold for over 14 hours. Maybe that's why it's really easy to digest.

And the butter isn't just any butter: they use Escure Charentes-Poitou AOP butter. You all know how good Escure butter is, right?

What to buy at Boulangerie Tan

My recommendations are the chocolate baguette, campagne (rustic country loaf), salt ciabatta and cornet pie. Honestly everything at Boulangerie Tan is good, but these stand out. I like that it's a traditional bakery that also has some of today's trendy breads.

To celebrate its 1st anniversary, Boulangerie Tan KINTEX is giving away a cute bread bag and a shopping bag with purchases of ₩30,000 or more. Also, it's getting hot these days, so I recommend eating the bread within 2 hours of buying it.

Are Boulangerie Tan cornet pies a good gift?

The cornet pies can be gift-wrapped, so I think they'd make a nice, classy gift.

The cornet pie flavors were vanilla, sweet corn (chodang-oksusu), and raspberry.

There were also hazelnut chocolate and croquant caramel cornet pies. At places that don't do cornet pies well they're soggy and really meh, but the ones at Boulangerie Tan were crisp and packed with cream, so so good.

Go early: sandwiches sell out by late in the day

The showcase is full of tempting bread, and Boulangerie Tan is also great for sandwiches. The jambon-beurre sandwich, carrot râpée sandwich and more sell out if you go late.

Salt bread buy-3-get-1 deal and free tastings

There was another event going on in the store: the crispy-outside, soft-inside gourmet butter salt bread was on a 3+1 deal. Great value too!!

You can also try samples. I tried the olive cheese ciabatta, which was warm and delicious, so I put one in my basket too!

What is the coffee like at Boulangerie Tan?

Boulangerie Tan also has coffee, made with Fritz beans, so the coffee is good too. Bread without coffee just feels wrong, right?

Kabocha cheese campagne and cornet pies, tasted at home

The Boulangerie Tan kabocha cheese campagne is seriously insanely good.. It's packed with kabocha squash and cream cheese, but not too much and not too little, and the bread itself is so good.. It just slides right down.

What can I say about the hazelnut chocolate cornet pie. The outside is crisp pastry and the sweet chocolate cream inside is just amazing T_T

Don't miss the salt ciabatta and Gongju chestnut campagne

I couldn't get a photo, but the salt ciabatta at Boulangerie Tan, lightly warmed in the oven, melts the butter and gives you a crackly outside and a nutty inside.. Please try the Gongju chestnut campagne too. I wondered, were chestnuts always this good..? Not too sweet and plain in a good way, and since the bread itself is so good, anything you put in it tastes great.

No regrets at all at this Kintekseu Station favorite, Boulangerie Tan at Hyundai Department Store. I recommend it if you want the taste of a traditional French bakery!
