Where is Daesin Ttangkong-ppang in Namdaemun Market?
Daesin Ttangkong-ppang (대신땅콩빵) Namdaemun Market branch is near Namdaemun's Galchi-jorim Alley, a 2-minute (189 m) walk from Hoehyeon Station Exit 5. It's open daily from 10:00 to 19:00, last order at 18:30, and takeout is available. There's no dedicated parking, so if you're driving, check nearby parking in advance.
Namdaemun Market has so much food, from braised cutlassfish to kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) and hotteok (sweet filled pancakes), that just browsing is fun. That day, while wandering around, a nutty smell stopped me in my tracks, haha. It was Daesin Ttangkong-ppang's Namdaemun Market branch! 🥜

The shop is near Galchi-jorim Alley. As I got close, the smell of roasted peanuts was drifting out, haha. When you smell that in a market, it's hard to just walk past, right? 😂

The owner happened to be handing out samples to people passing by, so I took one too. One bite and I thought, "Oh? This is good!" and ended up buying some, hahaha.
How does Daesin bake its peanut bread?
The Namdaemun Market branch bakes peanut bread and egg bread right in the shop, and you can watch the peanut bread being made from the front. 🥜

Daesin sells peanut bread and egg bread.

Because everything is baked on the spot, hot fresh bread keeps coming out. They pour batter and peanuts into the peanut bread mold, and watching it cook made me want more, haha.

The sign in front says the peanut bread and egg bread are made with what they call the only in-house batter in Korea. Peanut lovers will probably be curious.
What are Daesin's menu and prices?
Peanut bread starts at 20 pieces for ₩3,000, and egg bread at 1 piece for ₩2,000. Besides those, they also sell additive-free peanut butter made from 100% peanuts, and roasted peanuts. 🥜

This is what the menu board in the shop says.
- 🥜 Peanut bread: 20 pieces ₩3,000 / 45 pieces ₩6,000 / 80 pieces ₩10,000
- 🥚 Egg bread: 1 piece ₩2,000 / 3 pieces ₩5,500 / 7 pieces ₩12,000
- 🥜 Roasted peanuts: 500 g ₩5,000 / 1 kg ₩10,000
- 🥜 Peanut butter: Creamy 150 g ₩4,000 / Creamy 400 g ₩10,000 / Crunchy 400 g ₩12,000
They also sell a peanut smoothie. I only came for peanut bread, but with roasted peanuts and peanut butter too, peanut fans might enjoy a look around 😋
What we bought: 45 peanut breads and 2 egg breads, ₩10,000 total
We bought 45 peanut breads (₩6,000) and 2 egg breads (₩4,000). There were so many peanut breads that they filled a whole bag, and the price wasn't a burden, so it's a decent snack to eat while walking around Namdaemun Market, haha.
What does Daesin's peanut bread taste like?
Rather than sweetness from the bread, you notice the nutty flavor of the peanuts you bite into here and there. Instead of taking it home, we ate it right there in Namdaemun Market while it was warm.

Market snacks like this are best eaten warm, right? Hahaha. So instead of taking it home, we shared it on the spot with my sister-in-law and my kid.
We started with the peanut bread, and the peanut flavor came through much more than I expected. I thought peanut bread would taste sweet from the bread first, but what stood out was the nuttiness of the peanuts you bite into here and there, haha. True to its name, it felt like a nutty market snack with real peanuts in it!
Is Daesin's egg bread good for kids?
The egg bread is moist and soft with a mild saltiness, so even a child can eat it comfortably. There's a whole egg inside.

We tried the egg bread we bought right away too. The bread part was moist and soft, with a mild saltiness that made it easy to eat. A whole egg is inside, so one bite gives you the richness of the egg as well. Eaten warm, it was so moist, and just right as a snack when you get hungry wandering the market, haha.
We shared it with my sister-in-law and my kid, and since it was easy for a child to eat, I think it's a good snack to try if you're visiting Namdaemun Market with kids 😊
How was Daesin as a Namdaemun Market snack?
