Yangyang sashimi takeout for a Sol Beach hotel room dinner: Eosiljang
In short
Eosiljang Sashimi Takeout (어실장 회포장) is a sashimi takeout shop on Osan-gil in Sonyang-myeon, Yangyang, Gangwon. On a holiday trip with a 6-year-old, the writer phoned in the owner's recommended assorted sashimi set for 2 (50,000 won) and ate it in the hotel room: generous flounder and rockfish plus abalone, shrimp, sea squirt and sea snail, with all the dipping sauces in one container for easy eating and cleanup. Eosiljang Sashimi Takeout is a good pick for families staying at Sol Beach or campers who want sashimi to go.

Why I decided to get sashimi takeout on our Yangyang trip
What I was most looking forward to on our trip to Yangyang, Gangwon-do, was of course the food. I was especially excited about fresh seafood and sashimi, so I rushed to Yangyang over the holiday.

With a 6-year-old, I usually prefer taking food back to the hotel room and eating in comfort rather than going to a noisy, crowded sashimi restaurant. But ordinary takeout or delivery sashimi would make coming all the way to Gangwon-do feel pointless, so after some thought I looked for a specialist Yangyang sashimi takeout shop. That's how I found Eosiljang Sashimi Takeout (어실장 회포장).

Eosiljang Sashimi Takeout: location, hours and parking
Eosiljang Sashimi Takeout is a sashimi takeout shop in Sonyang-myeon, Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do. It is open daily 15:00–22:00 and you can park in front of the building. Hours may change depending on the day's fishing.

Cute cats were lounging all around the shop. There isn't a big commercial area nearby, so parking was hardly a worry. As a proper takeout specialist, the place was full of people waiting for their orders and the chime of Naver reservation alerts rang out as soon as I walked in. (I ordered by phone, but it looks like you can also pick your menu and time easily through a Naver reservation.)
With great value and quality, Eosiljang seemed popular with guests staying at nearby Solbeach. It also seemed to be a famous spot for takeout sashimi among Yangyang campers who feel that just grilling meat isn't enough. It's open daily 15:00–22:00, but it may close or change hours depending on fishing conditions, so I recommend calling ahead.

Eosiljang menu and prices
The signature item is the assorted sashimi: ₩50,000 for 2 people, ₩75,000 for 3 and ₩95,000 for 4. Flounder is ₩50,000 for 2 and ₩70,000 for 3, and flounder plus rockfish is ₩55,000 for 2 and ₩75,000 for 3.
There were plenty of other items too, like spicy fish bone stew, mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) and hoedeopbap (raw fish rice bowl), but I went with the owner's recommendation, the ₩50,000 assorted sashimi set for 2. (With a Naver photo review event, you get one extra abalone!)

Waiting for pickup and how it was packed
The assorted sashimi set for 2 was ready right at my reserved time, and it was packed sturdily, even with an ice pack. I waited briefly inside, and since there are tables and chairs, it was a comfortable wait even though it was short.
The owner also reminded me to carry it level because the sea squirt liquid could leak, and even though our hotel wasn't far, they added an ice pack just in case.

As you can see in the photos, the packaging was very sturdy and neat. It also looked good for walking to Solbeach or having it delivered.
What's in the ₩50,000 assorted sashimi set for 2?
The ₩50,000 assorted sashimi set for 2 held seasonal fish such as flounder and rockfish, plus abalone, shrimp, sea squirt and sea snail, along with lettuce, seaweed and sauces. Below is the takeout box as it came.

Back in the hotel room, I opened the sashimi and the very, very, very generous spread was shocking. Besides seasonal fish like flounder and rockfish, there was a variety of abalone, shrimp, sea squirt and sea snail.

On top of that, it came with tasty lettuce and a special seaweed, and the sauce set was perfect. Tearing open and throwing away separate packets of chogochujang (sweet chili vinegar sauce), soy sauce, wasabi and doenjang (soybean paste) one by one is a hassle, but here the sauces were all together in one tub, so eating and cleaning up were very convenient.

How were the taste and freshness?
In the assorted sashimi, the abalone was especially fresh, and the flounder and rockfish were cut thick, so the texture really came through. The abalone was so fresh I kept reaching for more. Sea squirt is best dunked generously in the chogochujang, of course. The flounder and rockfish were sliced fairly thick too, which kept the texture lively and gave a strong sense of freshness.

And wrapping the flounder in lettuce with garlic and chili pepper was heavenly. (The chili wasn't very spicy.)
What I liked about getting sashimi takeout in Yangyang
Bringing sashimi back from a place like Eosiljang means you can enjoy it in your room with market food like dakgangjeong (sweet crispy fried chicken). It would be a shame to come to Yangyang and only eat sashimi, and with takeout you can enjoy dakgangjeong and all sorts of tasty market dishes alongside it. (And then I boiled up a cup of instant ramen too, so it felt like a proper eat-everything trip.)
And since the packaging is neat, I think Eosiljang Sashimi Takeout is a top sashimi takeout spot for guests at Solbeach or the campgrounds.
